i have had my OME lift installed for 3 years now. Full kit, 885's no armour, dakars in the rear. 2008 DC SB. I have only started questioning this since I am looking at installing an ARB, and I now have a shell installed. So I want to upgrade to the 887 coils, and Dakar add a leafs.

My question is: on small quick bumps like potholes and speed bumps if I hit them any faster than a slow crawl it feels like the front end is dropping to oblivion. It's as if there is zero rebound dampening. this has been like this since I installed the lift, I was hoping it would mellow out a bit as the suspension broke in, but that never happened. This is something I would expect from a set of 886's with no front armour, not 885's with a stock bumper.
im not sure if it's "just the way it is". Or do I have some defective front shocks? Obviously there is no warranty left now, I'm just curious at this point.

Not exactly a clank. Just feels like it's all coil, and nothin is slowing it down.

Pretty certain it's a characteristic of the OME set up. I know the feeling you are describing .

Same with bilstien 5100s. Piss poor rebound dampening. That's why I went with coilovers finally on this truck. Waaaaay better.

So... For $1200 USD I can fix the "clank". Might have to live with it for a while.
bumper, tires, brakes probably take priority
