OME suspension install questions

Hey everyone. I'm currently installing a full OME kit in my access cab tacoma.. I'll get more pictures up but a couple quick questions. The factory bump stop does not seem to fit well on top of the bolt on the new leaf packs. Do I just drill out the bump stop, or discard it? Also I am not 100% sure how the assembly goes on the top of the rear shocks. I think I have the order correct but I will post a picture once I'm out there. Thanks!

 

You can drill the bump stop or cut the U bolt. I'd suggest drilling them, it's super easy and leaves you enough meat on the U bolt if you need to add shims or an AAL later.

I say cut the bolt, if you ever put shims or another leaf, you'll want to replace the bolt anyway.

 

Actually the bolt is longer for those who want to put the extra leaf OME offers...

 

I drilled the bump stops, got the rear end all assembled tonight, with Nitrocharger sport shocks. Sorry for the lack of pics. I'm dead tired, but he should get some up whIle tackling the front tomorrow. Any important things I should note before installing the new UCAs and coI'll overs?

 

Why would you want to replace the bolt ?

 

Get ready to bend the piss out of the sheet metal to get the bolts out and don't tighten them all the way until the full weight is back on the tires. If your fronts are already assembled just be ready to put some extra pressure on the LCA to get it in there. If they're not, just be careful disassembling/reassembling. Springs carry scary energy.

The worst part is the Dakars so if you have that done you're good from here on out.

 

Shims usually come with new center pins. Those pins can get mangled up during removal and even regular articulation of the suspension. I've always treated them as a one and done, especially since they are not expensive. Also if you think about a long ass bolt in your bump stop, your bump stop is made to compress. What happens when the weight of your truck compresses the bump stop so much that it starts compressing your bolt? Failure. I've seen plenty of these center pins beat to shit that replacing them when your adding or removing something just feels good.

 

Now it's time for some spidertrax wheel spacers. Then I'll get to see how it sits. Thank you, everyone for the tips and replies. More to come on the front end

 

Take a look at the totally garbage rough country shocks that come off it. About 4 months shy of a year they were on there, and around 12 thousand miles

 

Pin through style shims come with new centre pins , not sure I can see how the bump stop could damage the centre pin but as you say they are a cheap part to replace if you are changing your rear leaf set uo anyway

 

Bump stop wouldn't damage the center pin, the frame and weight of the vehicle would though.

 

The bump keeps them from contacting though no ?

If the pin was cut to a few threads above the nut allowing the full bump stop to take the weight of the vehicle, then there is no chance. If you drill in the bump to allow for a full length pin, then there is a possibility of contact.

 

As of 12:19 am the truck is done.. special thanks to @headstrongoffroad for the great advice. The 887 coils are perfect. They shipped almost immediately and nothing was damaged.
The truck has me speechless, literally. I can't believe how smooth it is, while still remaining firm. I also took out the sway bar, and only noticed a slight increase in body roll. I'm proud to say I'm one of the few trucks in my city to be lifted and not have anyou blocks or spacers.
