    That's a retarded statement .

So no Toyota owner should be happy unless their truck rides as stiff as you can possibly make it by adding extra suspension components ?

Do you have the Dakars or equivalent stiff leafs on your truck ?

Thanks for the great debate guys!

I think I may have overdone it with th AAL on the install since the little reg cab is very light.

Yeah the Dakars are already more capable and more leafs w/o the AAL the ol doucer the with his stock leafs and aal. I always love when a hard headed doucer chimes in thinking there is no poss outcome except the one he has decided. OP it sounds to me like you should take out the AAL and see how you like it maybe and an airbag kit for your occasional hauling.

Sorry guys, I've been out. My statements still hold true. What I'm saying is don't complain about a harsh or rough ride or a high stance with a truck. Or gas mileage. And why do anything to lessen its capability?

Then you really have no reference about the ride with the Dakars .

The regular Dakar pack will more than likely be completely adequate for the OP's needs , and will allow for the best combination of ride and capability .

If that turns out to not be the case he can reinstall the OME AAL .

If he can have a greater capacity with the AAL, why get rid of it?

Right, I can't comment specifically on the Dakars. But ride quality is not important in a truck. Shoot, all of the features of trucks now are turning towards convenience and comfort. They're being targeted at the wrong audience. Trucks are for people who use them, not people who want it as a status symbol (I'm not saying this is the OP).

Fuck heated steering wheels, fuck electronic adjusting seats, fuck composite beds, fuck audio upgrades, fuck bed liners, fuck heated seats, fuck back up cameras, fuck lack of V8 option, fuck nerf bars, fuck bull bars, fuck the BHLM, fuck color matched grilles, fuck satoshis, fuck custom wheels.

Let's not worry about some dents, some scratches, some rust, a hole or two in the bed, some dirt on the truck, some dirt in the truck. Engage four wheel drive if you have it. Use it. Beat it to hell.

Make your truck more capable, not pretty. And dammit, fuck your truck that you call 'my baby.'

The previous was not directed towards a particular person.

    Nice rant

Back to the actual question at hand , the load capacity of the OP's truck is fixed . The Dakars do not increase the load carrying capacity of the truck , they just change the way the truck reacts to loads . The OME AAL is intended for sustained carrying of a couple hundred extra pounds , so that the regular Dakar pack is not " engaged " until an additional load is added .

The OP has no continuous 200 lb load , the regular Dakar pack is sufficient , the truck will flex and ride less stiff unloaded .

It is not an irreversible change.

I thought that the AAL was going to be too much unless you are constantly hauling a lot of weight when you posted the pics after install. The Dakars alone can handle a lot of weight. OZ says his shell drops the rear 1/2" (never had mine off since I put on the Dakars) & if I stand on my bumper (190 lbs) mine drops 1/2". I was helping a local (with the same rear set up as mine) fix his Taco (Maxamillion3456 with the locking up brakes) and when he rode in mine he said it rode a lot better with the weight of the shell. Take the AAL off you will like it much more.

So the AAL saves wear on the Dakars - that's a plus.
So next time the OP wants to haul something heavy he has to reinstall the AAL? Doesn't seem worth it.

You are completely missing the point .

The Dakars carry weight exceptionally well on their own , I know , I have them .

The OME AAL is intended for a continuous extra load of approx 200 lbs .

You can haul very heavy loads with the Dakars , without the AAL .

How do you haul anything in your truck ? You don't have the Dakars with the OME AAL ?

I've got an AAL which increases capacity and keeps it from hitting the bumpstops. Would I like to have Dakars? Sure, they're just out of my budget. I see your point - I just don't see why anybody would remove an AAL if they didn't have to. It's the difference between a good suspension and a better suspension.

Haha, what have we accomplished in this discussion?

The best suspension is one that carries all the weight you need it to and at the same time articulates well .

Having a rear leaf set up that you can put 2000 lbs of bricks into with zero sag doesn't mean much if you only ever haul 500 lbs . The compromise in ride quality and articulation would be too great for a potential benefit you will never use .

Having a truck does mean much if you only ever haul 500 pounds.

    OK man , I'm done .

I use my truck for work all the time , haul lumber , tools , firewood etc .

    I like my Dakars .

I also like the rear to be able to react to bumps when unloaded .

You should weld your leafs together
