I installed the OME lift a few months back and finally jumped on the much needed Uppers. During the install for both sides I noticed that the castle nut for both sides doesn't actually thread far enough to reach the holes for the cotter pin. Regardless I drove down to my local jack Williams for an alignment and asked if they could toss them in for me (Figured I just didn't have a bar long enough to torque it to spec). They neglected to call me leaving me waiting a full day for this truck and finally the next day when I called I was told I "Needed new ball joints in order to align it". So I went over thinking that maybe he was ready to tell me that my lower ball joints were shot but no, the tech ended up stripping the ball joint for my brand new uppers..... I decide to risk it and drive home very upset knowing that I was going to have to sort this all out. when I got home I luckily discovered that he luckily only stripped the castle nut and that the threads on the ball joint survived.

Has anyone else had this problem? Im hoping I just got a manufactured defect and that the stud itself was manufactured too short or that the cotter pin holes were drilled in the wrong spot. I decided to just reinstall the old castle nut from the factory uppers and add some orange loctite in the meantime until I can get in touch with ARB about this issue. I took the truck to another shop for the alignment and luckily that's back in spec.

WOW ironically I just happened to catch a look at the 1 inch sticker on the box that has it as a UCA004 control arm which is for 4 runners and the UCA005 is for tacomas. Apparently the ball joints are ever so slightly different. Yotamafia dropped the ball shipping the wrong ones. Hopefully they’ll take the return even though I installed them.

Didn’t know it existed until I went into ace today looking for some blue loctite!

No matter what the vehicle is - I always put the ball joint in the spindle (unloaded) to be certain the taper is correct. You can go one step further and check the castle nut is correct also ! Kinda learned to do this when I had an experience like you described.
