To start with, yes I know there are previous threads discussing this. They are nearly 6yrs old tho.

So, give me some updated advice guys! Bilstein 5100's or OME? Looking for the 2.5-3" of lift. It's a daily driver but does get used off road quite often for riding and hunting purposes. Also wanting an ALUMINUM bumper on the front, so 885 or 886 springs? Help me out!

after buying an using the OME N182's in the rear and the 5100's in the front.... i gotta say build quality on the Bilstein units is far better.

Might i suggest sticking around a 2in lift. get closer to 3inches and you start limiting your droop travel which makes for a poorly performing truck.

These parts haven't changed in the last 6 years. ;) Bilstein 5100s don't quite have enough damping for the stiffer OME springs. So it's better to pair OME shocks with OME springs.

I replaced my stock TRD shocks with 122k on them a few months ago with the 5100's. Take from this unscientific test what you will but when I took off the rear OEM shocks and pushed them into the garage floor they were stiff and took their time to bounce back. I could barely push them in, had to put all my weight on them. The 5100's on the other hand, were smooth and came back faster. It still has a nice stiff truck feel but smoothed out just enough.

A few months ago when I had my frame replaced ( at about 90,000 mi), I had the dealer install my supplied 4 Bilstein 5100's, (front @ 1.75) and a Toytec Add-A-Leaf. Huge positive difference from the old oem suspension. I LOVE the ride and control!!

Or just get Bilstein 6112s that come with their own springs. I have no experience with OME but I love my Billies

Check out headstrong off-road to purchase from. They've got great prices, free shipping and Marie is great. One of the most active vendors on here. (I'm in no way affiliated with them)

You're getting oem (original equipment manufacturer) confused with OME (old man emu)

I have bilstein 5100's all around and like them

.....Noooo.... I had original equipment manufacturer (OEM) the Toyota stuff, NOT OME replaced... OME was a consideration...

But I found 51's for $338 from Jet.com (might have been a passing sale)

That's what I said. The OP was asking OME vs bilstein. Thought maybe you misread

I went that route on my 11 and 15, wasn't a fan, stiff/rough ride and both started leaking/squeaking after a winter or two here.

    Too much to list!
I have 5100 and front ToyTec springs. These are the 1.6 lift and 620lbs. They handle and feel far better than stock. I would never go back. Since I live in the city I cannot attest at how they do off-road except for the curbs and small organic gardens I run over every other day.

I have 5100 in the rear with a ICON 3 leaf add-a-leaf on TSB springs.
