couldn't find any thread on this. Anyone running this setup to say compensate for a plate bumper and winch? If not then what setup...other than the obvious BP51's/Kings/ADS adjustables....unless of course that IS the next step...

You could do bilstein 6112. I believe it uses the same style coil as king/fox/icon/etc. so you have more customization as far as coils. A 650lb cool would suit you well, depending on additional weight. For reference the 888s are a 590lb coil.

Couldn't you just Install 886's with your shocks? Pretty sure I've seen ppl use small spacers on top of ome shocks and 888's.

yea, was thinking 886's with some .250" spacers....I think King is a 650 coil or was that ADS....thinking I might have to bite the bullett for the fronts and just shell out another 1.8k or so and be done with it.

Yup that's what I decided to do, it's the proper way. Hopefully the sliders don't let topout occur. Since I lost probably 1.25" between sag and sliders, should be ok. Think I'll wait to install when I get my bumper and winch in. Any suggestions on a decent winch with synthetic rope? I only do mild to moderate offroading.

@eldedo I have the 888s with Bilstein 5100s. I tried them on .85 and they definitely got stiffer and also taller. Threw on a 1/2" PS 1/4" DS top plate spacer, and ended up putting them back at 0. Rides level, even with the extra weight of a bumper.

886 would be a mistake, they are not for as much lift, but support a heavier load.

You could always do coilovers if you want to spend the money and have it more adjustable.

My load is getting heavier, 120lb of sliders, zoom another 70lb of skids and at minimum 120 for front bumper, I think a winch will be around 70lb as.well. That's why the 886s are a better choice. So 380lb extra. Might have to convert the Dakars from medium to heavy pack, well see.

@bradshawnh what plate bumper are you running also winch and armor?

However nice to hear from people that have been there done that.

I have dakar heavy in the rear FYI. I tow heavy and haul heavy sometimes so that’s why I chose it.

I have Pelfreybilt everything: full steel front with hoops, rear (not HC), and IFS skid. I think it’s about 200lb extra in the front. No sliders yet, or winch. Coming soon!

I really have no qualms with my setup and it handles what I put it through no problems.

hmmm, food for thought. Suppose I'll sleep on it for a bit.
