Have a 2016 TRD Off Road Double Cab. Looking for a good suspension for a daily driver that I take off road every few weekends. Looking into OME might go with Toytec BOSS, still not decided. I like that OME comes with the new leaf set vs the AAL and has the ability to adjust to possible future winch/metal bumper with new springs(maybe I could do this with the BOSS too?). I just have a bull bar with a 18.5" 4 stack light bar mounted to it, probably sits at 60-80 lbs.

For a daily driver like myself that only off roads here and there, will I want he softer valved 90021 struts or the stiffer 90000. I am a noob at this and an not sure if a stiffer valving will cause my truck to sit lower with the additional weight upfront. I would ideally like a softer ride. I don't do any crazy off roading but I live in Utah and the mountains out here are pretty rocky(yeah, that was a pun but true), I don't want to bottom out my shocks.

Springs, they are different for the 2016 that previous years. On Toytec it says:
887 coils - Stock with no weight
888 coils - with a bumper only or winch only
With the extra weight up front and it being a double cab, should I play it safe and go with the 888's(middle option)? Would the 887(first option) cause the front to sag and effect my ride or would I be find and have a smoother ride with the 887's? Previous years they had the middle options for double cabs, which I have, but no mention of it this go round. I know the 884's were the same spring rate at 885's but the 885's were taller.

Sorry if this is already covered on another post, I searched but could not find it. I can't find much information on the new springs online. Thanks, I appreciate all the input I can get.

Oh yeah, I was just going to go with LR uppers. Any reason I should consider going with Total Chaos UCA's?

You might want to check out the second gen forums. I know there is ton of discussion there about this exact topic and tons of information there. The third gens(2016+) have different springs than what you'll find for you're second gen. Glad to have you here, just some info so you get the info you need for you're truck. I guess second generation Springs sag on 3rd generation Tacoma's. They could be too stiff for you're second gen.

Check out the Bilstein 5100s over the OME. Better shock and cheaper

I've heard people say that. I have also heard from most that have own both 5100's and OME that OME is better all around. I think I will stick with my choice for OME. Thanks for the input though.

I've heard people that have OMEs and love them, but they are a twin tube shock vs a monotube shock. Twin tube shocks wear out and heat up the fluid inside faster then montubes. For off-road, monotube is better. I'll be going 5100s, OME coils, and OME Dakar leaf packs when I lift mine.

While this is true, I've still heard the difference between them is great. Mainly because I've heard the ride quality of the 5100's goes down as you raise them. I've heard they are pretty rough at 2.5 inches. I think you'd have to have them at an inch to be par with what the 2016 is stock. I'm not sure if they have a version specific to the 2016 but it's supposed to sit an inch higher than the second gen.

5100 are valved the same as your stock 4600's. The OME ride so much better than my stock bilsteins did. And don't put too much faith in those guys saying the 3rd gen will get 1" less lift, they are full of shit.

@Aussiek2000 I like the truck. How are them OME's riding? I assume you're running 90021 front struts on the front?

I'm still slightly raked, with the rear being higher. 885's would be really bad, I think.

@Aussiek2000 You running aftermarket uppers? If so which and how are you liking them?

I was probably going to go with the 888's and the Dakars with the 3rd leaf removed. I'm sure I'll be raked as they are stated to have a lift of 50mm's front and back, but I honestly would rather to be raked with a suspension lift than try to level out with spacers. You using your trim pack spacer for lean?

trim packer on LF. I have light racing upper arms, they are great. Probably never would have got it aligned without them

That's why you get longer coils and don't preset them at 2.5"
