That's some MacGyver shit right there, Sir. I am imagining you can sell this thing and make big bucks. You could possibly even engineer it be retractable. I would certainly buy it.

I was told in Cali we do not need a front plate because of the commercial reg. I have not verified that accuracy of that statement.
I do not have a front plate on my truck.
When i was rear ended and pushed into the vehicle in front. The hood of the car that hit me was crumpled up and blocking the plate. The officer that responded walked to the front looking for the plate. I saw him walk over and look down, so i went into the cab, pulled out the plate and held it up so he could see it and read it. None of the 3 officers that were involved by the end said anything about the plate.

Not true at all. In CA, you need a front plate. Commercial or not.

I honestly don't care if I have a front plate or not - actually - I prefer it. One less reason to pull me over!

Yeah my truck had the front license plate bracket mounted....SUCKS.....My state doesn't require a front plate so I'm stuck with putting the 2 black mounting screws in the holes....sigh

I'd like to trade somebody for a bumper without the holes if they do want a front license plate.

Nice thing about the 3rd gen is you don't need a whole front bumper. You can just get the front piece.

You guys ever watch those dr pimple popper videos on YouTube? Well here's what those screw holes look like on my bumper. They look like the aftermath of a cyst removal. Freakin' volcanos. The savages they got working at the dealer! What a way to ruin a $636.35 unpainted front valence.

Holy $hit, you sure on that price for a lower valance? The part number I got is53851-04070 which is primed ready for paint. I'm going to get a price at the dealer tomorrow. If it is that much I will have mine either painted, wrapped, or I'll plastidip it.

53851-04070 is the front lower air dam that exists on non-TRD Off Road models, that's not the part the license plate holder bolts onto.

    Me in the driver seat.
I did the "specific instructions" like an OCD maniac. I told them to leave any protective plastic film on in the interior, don't drill the front tag, and don't put any dealer identification that can't be removed easily before leaving the lot. They followed everything to the T. So well that I actually called the GM and gave the sales person the best damn review I could. Like others said though, my state isn't a double plate state so they probably wouldn't have drilled the tag anyways.

I picked up my DCLB OR last month and asked to not have the front plate installed. They just tossed the tag holder in the back seat. Now the temporary tag is running out and I need to install the front plate. I still haven't decided what to do, I'm going to make an aluminum bracket for down under the air dam and see how I like it. I'll post pics if it looks halfway decent. Anything to get around the "no step" plastic box.

I did the same thing. I also got 18,000 lb plates, so I only have to run one plate. Supposed to run it only on the front, but I'm going to put it on the back and see what happens, then play dumb if I get pulled over. I asked the DMV 3 times yesterday if it mattered, front or back, and they said no. When I looked at the actual law, it said front only for this size plates. Oh well.

15 Minute Fix. Two unused holes in the factory skid plate. Tapped and used a couple amplifier brackets that were laying around. Looks Perfect and has only bent back slightly hitting hard snow. Just FYIimage.jpg
