There are multiple threads with on board air setups but I don't know what will be sufficient for my needs.

    I've got a 2017 SR5 2x4. I'd like on board air for:

inflating my tires every now and then

    inflating bicycle tires

using it to blow of sand and dirt after the beach or mountain biking

Is there a setup that will fit stealthy under the truck without removing the spare tire? I'll route the lines up to one of bed storage boxes for easy access.

Viair 450, It was a carry around but I mounted it under the rear passenger seat. 2.5 gallon tank, 2 wires, 1 air line, very simple. Compressor has built in Thermal and Psi. so no extra wiring.

I was going to use some stainless tubing I had at work but i can do 3/8 copper gas line for about 20 bucks. One swagelok fitting was going to cost more than that.

any issues with the heat from the compressor melting the plastic? that'd be my only concern, just order the same compressor and toking for a place to mount it.

I had the same concern but l topped off and purged the tank 4 times and no problems with heat or the thermal switch. Takes about 3 minutes from empty. I've been trying to see what it will take and so far no problems. I will redo the tubing to 3/8 dot brake line when I get time.

I haven't looked into compressors for mountain bikes, but now I'm interested. Are presta valve chucks readily available for these types of compressors?

I went with this area because I wanted to keep it clean, and with everything closed it will still does not get hot enough to hurt anything. It's not too loud to bother anyone but it does make the seat buzz. Outside the truck you can barley hear it. If you really had to work it I would leave the compartment open but I've ran it pretty hard and had zero issues. 8 gauge 12v, ground under seat bolt, plumb and mount tank, done. Get your kids to help so you can smile evrtime you see that crooked tank under there. :)

you need to run a presta-schrader adapter on the presta valve. You can get these cheap at any bike shop

Badass, thanks. Do you know if the adapters mess with pressure gauge readings? I'm pretty picky about tire pressure.

Pressure is pressure as long as you are confident in the accuracy of your reading device.

Yes, and a spare tire fore sale now because that's not going back in.

The plunger of the presta valve is used as the plunger to plunger on the schrader
