On-board Bottle Jack for 3" Lift

I have one and they work well. They wrap around the rock sliders nicely...

 

How ya gonna change the tire when its being used to lift the truck?

 

Guess you gotta carry around some jack stands too.

Well he will just have to be lightning fast with the tire swap then!

 

I still don't see how the stock jack will work with a 3" lift and 33s. It simply wont reach the jack points as described in the owners manual.

 

No but it will lift the rear axle tube (you may want a piece of 2X4) and it will (not very well, but it will all the same) lift your front LCA.

 

Per the owners manual you dont lift at the LCA.

So I guess if you change your tire and you want to lift where the owners manual says you would need a longer bottle jack and a couple pieces of wood stacked under it.

I just hate staking stuff under the jack...I don't feel safe.

 

Pshhh... safe shmafe My jack stands arent tall enough to reach my frame so I have a couple landscaping bricks I put under them when Im in the driveway.

 

Noob question about this. So if you dont have sliders, how would you use this to change your tire? Is this primarily to lift if you are stuck to get something under the tire? Or better yet, with the bumper attachment you could do the back tires...but what about the front?

So that part kinda sucks, especially to carry around jack stands...think I might just go the bottle jack route or just put a couple of 2x6 blocks in the truck.

 

Keep a couple of sections of 2x4s to stack under the axle or UCA - Just like they do with I beams when the build a bridge - only on a smaller scale.

Just don't use too short pieces - in engineering terms, you don't want to build a 'slender column' you want more of a pyramid or 'wide column.'

thats why I just have a bottle jack. I dont have sliders and I dont think that strap thing would work on my wheels..
or if you have a toolbox just throw a full size floor jack in there

 

Adding a 100 pound floor jack would cost you in gas money and room in your tool box.
