Thanks! Kind of bulky if space is an issue, but I'm very pleased with how well it worked out.

Bob, if it was only me, your setup might be an option. But in my travels, there are normally 6 people! So as stated before, space is at a premium.

I definitely understand. There are times when I drag a small utility trailer behind me just to fit everything. I certainly don't think my setup is the end-all, but rather what works best for my situation. I go out for extended periods and to remote desert locations where water is at a premium for everything. Having extra out there might make the difference between croaking or not if things go bad. There are no bad ideas on this stuff and I definitely want to see your setup once you've got it complete.

I settled on getting the following -
-1 of the Plate heat Exchangers - Might get the 26 or 30 to reduce actual run time since the main tank will ALL be heated
-electrical heater too for redundancy (researching which model)
    -2 pumps (1 shower, 1 recirculating) ShurFlo Extreme 5.7 & Shurflo Classic
-Brio B100 .55 GPM Shower head
    -15 Gal? Storage tank

    -Relocate carbon filter box

I tried the eccotemp L5 but it gave me grief due to a constant slight breeze (wind). After 20 minutes of messing with it, it went back in the box and was returned. I think I may spring for the Nemo Helio pressure shower. I'll just heat the water on the 20K BTU propane stove and pour it into the helio, pump it up and go. I need something that is simple and folds down into nothing. I've read positive comments from those that have used them.

I have read up on the heat exchanges like the Helton system. And folks who have them in their Tacoma's end up cycling water into a bucket and once at the desired temperature they'll stop and then begin to shower / wash dishes or whatever.

Bummer on the L5 not working out. I know it's not designed for much in the way of wind. The way I set it up I have it fairly well blocked on three sides so I haven't had any issues with that yet, but I'm sure I'll run into it at some point. Good luck with the other setup!

the L5 kicks ass! I can't believe how hot it gets and how fast. Amazing piece of a equipment and super simple set-up.

What about the on board water that Jeremy Clarkson did on the Top Gear special? Cheap, simple, easy.

I was asked in the heater core thread how my OBW install was coming.

settled on what I want the majority of the heater components to be. Going to stop by an RV dealer and see what I can asses on size of the pumps. At the same time going to chat with them about issues with freezing temps in winter and how to battle them and protect the system.
