That is the OEM shield. If it hasn't already, it will wear the paint off of your hood where the 5 clips are. I had one on my '05 and there were 5 bald spots on the hood in just 30,000 miles.

I don't like bugshields myself, but I had to put one on to protect the hood from stone chips, so I went with a clear one. You can hardly see it.

I just looked at mine and took it off right away. What a crappy design. The protective tape is already sliding off and I got it before the paint was damaged. IPA took the adhesive right off. It looks better and I'm not sure what the factory shield did anyway. Maybe an aftermarket one later on. One that mounts to the bottom of the hood like normal shields do.

i dunno if they really work..... and how much are they anyhow?

i didnt like the look of them so i got my front end Clearbra'd..... it goes halfway up the hood which is more protection than the bugshield would give.

I think I'll just have my wife hang out the passenger side with a fly swatter.

Yes, I am looking to get the front of the hood clearbra'd, just need to call around and see who does it and how much it costs.

OFF! If you're concerned about rock chips, then go get the clear bra installed on the hood only. Plus, overtime the vibrations of the bug shield will wear out the clear tabs that are on the hood. I had to take my wife's bug shield off of her Highlander because of it.

Agreed. On makes sense, but not with that Toyota piece of $#!t deflector.

Those clips on the OE deflector is idiocy and entirely defeats the purpose. I'd replace it with one that doesn't protect from one type of damage but cause another possibly worse form of damage.

For $60 bucks or whatever, its a small price to pay, expecially if it hasn't yet damaged the hood.
