Black Sand Pearl factory paint - flattened "au natural" by tree branches.
The cop that clocked me passing someone at 51km/h over the speed limit today would give it a 10. I'd give it a 7 compared to the old gutless toyotas of yester-year. I'd give it a 4 compared to all the other trucks out there today. But they can all suck it with their RV pullin, fancy electronics havin, tire roastin bs.

Agree 100%.I guess the undertuning of this motor attributes to its long term dependability..

ditto. i didnt get the truck to be fast. ive got a 400lb 175hp face raping white demon of death that i get on if i want to go fast. i dont even speed in the tacoma, i have no need to.. and its never faltered even towing as much as i cared to tow. i guess we all use it for different purposes though, but it gets out of its own way fairly easy...

    9.5 nothings perfect.

Its all relative... compared to my old 87 4runner with a 3rz and 2008 4cyl Camry its awesome! Compared to my old 91 jetta with vr6 swap or my old 64 Chevelle with built small block its average...

:p If anything a disfunctional scoop slows you down due to aerodynamics and wind resistance. But the Sport decals definitely add 10hp.

I think some "JDM 4 LYFE" might add 15-20 WHP!

I'd rate my 2014 dcsb auto about a 6 -- would be nice to have more power but what I think it really needs is better throttle response --- seems like I have to lean on it to make it go.

    7. I've got the 6 speed manual. It's got enough power to drift on dry pavement if you don't mind bouncing off the Rev limiter. It's no muscle car by today's standards but there's about 50 more hp than an 80's iroc Camaro.

    This^^^

And what others have said. In general, it has plenty of get up and go, but towing or hauling leave some to be desired.
