Compared to this, a 2. I know, not fair. I'm very happy with the motor. It's a solid 7. Does everything I need it to.

For what I use the truck for the power is fine. I traded a Hemi powered Ram in for my Taco and that had very good power. I bought the truck to use daily for its reliabilty, haul my fire wood, tow anything that I need, and do some trail driving which I couldnt do in the BIG Ram. To me Tacomas are functional work horses. They are not fancy, they come equiped to handle difficult road conditions, they are tough, and proven machines. If get on it my truck goes fine for what it is. I have no power issues when hauling anything and thats important to me on a V6 truck. My need for speed is cured with my Mustang Cobra :)

It is what it is, for a mid sized truck with a v6 it decent. I can honestly say i would like to hear more about peoples opinions on gearing and 285's I am running them on stock gears and I actaully dont notice that much of a difference from the 265's I had on there. I have not pulled anyhting with the truck yt either however.

If Toyota offered the 5.7L V8 as a $4000 option, I would've paid for it.

    8. It's obvious many of you haven't owned the 3.4. I've had 2 First Gens with the 3.4. Used both to tow a 6X9 Landscaping trailer filled up with equipment. It pulled it, didn't like to pull it...but it did it.

Towed with the 4.0 and it's a dream to pull. Then I pulled with my V8 4Runner. Now that engine is a 10.

    6? 7?

I recently traded my 2004 Tundra 4.7 V8 for a 2014 Tacoma DCLB. Both are autos and the Tacoma has a little less torque on the specs page, but drives better. I think the 5 speed auto makes a big difference versus the Tundra's 4 speed. A good example is when the cruise is on both vehicles through some similar hills. My Tundra would do some downshifting while the Tacoma seems to chug-along as usual.

    The Tundra had a 4-speed?! Even though the 4Runner V8 mated the 4.7L V8 to the A750F 5-speed?

Coming from the 2.7 I4 I am nothing but impressed with the 4.0 V6. Awesome motor. I don't understand the people that pay for the supercharger... it's not a sports car. I have a sportbike, so nothing with 4 wheels is fast in my world.

To each their own.... If you would decide to throw in the 5K, I think you would be happy. I think all the guys that have the S/C would agree. Without the S/C I would say 6.

I'm gonna' go out on a limb here and say that just about anyone who could afford to boost their vehicle to give it more HP and torque, would....we all like power and speed...exactly why you get yr rush from a crotch rocket...

I give my 2014 TRD dbl.cab a 10. Quiet engine. Power enough for my use. Would like better mpg, tho. High horse power and good mpg don`t go together, you can`t have both. Everybody I meet likes my Tacoma and they all think that I`m rich. :p:eek:

Funny you say that. The local gas station owner threw me a similar comment today. If only I was made of money!

FYI, just bought a 2014 TRD Sport 4x4 access cab V6 in spruce green mica. Very sharp and I rate the power as a 9. Once Broken in, I am sure I will give it a ten. -Rob
