Talk me OUT of a 2" lift/leveling kit. Intend to go from the 265 70 16 to the 265 75 16. I'm not one who pursues much in the way of mods. I DO have Sumo springs on to help support when trailering, and am very happy with those. 20160925_144626.jpg

I'd suggest starting with writing out exactly why you want to lift/level and switch to tires with 1" greater diameter. Functional reasons? If so what can you not do today that the change will allow you to do? Aesthetic reasons? Those are more subjective and each has to make their own call as to the value of the "looks" vs price to get there.

50% fit assurance (tires are a 1" diameter increase, should be doable without rubbing issues.), 50% Aesthetics. At 62 years old, I have to admit, I still like the LOOKS. Still refuse to grow up sometimes.
Cost is a non factor... Well, a little factor. The prices of these kits and install is not an issue. A $3000 lift is., but not these leveling kits.
If there is any reason to believe that mechanics is challenged, ie breaking U-joints, axles, etc, then its not worth it. Do NOT need a stiffer ride; if I want that i get the FJ40 out. The Tacoma is my DD. Will just stay stock. And frankly, I may even stay with the 265-70-16. I understand the 75s fit no-brainer though?

Funny enough, I still weigh things like the additional effort it takes to climb into the bed of the truck, etc.

Oh, and gpb and everyone else, I thank you ahead of time for serious replies.

Great advise! I would run the larger tires for a while and then decide if you want to do the lift/level. Tons of people run that size tire with no rubbing at stock height

BABA, Thanks. That's my thought trend at this point. From the info Ive been gathiering so far, the lift/level is NOT without compromise.

Based on past experiences with two Jeeps...don't do it. Unless, you don't mind taking it back several times until they get it right, if they get it right.
I'm glad that stage of my life is over. Too bad I didn't listen to others back then, it would have saved me from many headaches. But hey, we all have to learn one way or another, right?
