I was reading the reviews on Amazon and this is what one person said

“this unit works like a charm. with solar charged battery power this immersion water heater brings water up to 120° F in about half an hour in a seven gallon bucket. left on it climbs to 160° F”

Sounds promising, especially if it heated a 7 gallon tank. My question would be where to place this thing to not melt a plastic tank?

Finally got the time to finish installing my OBW. Works great, instructions were good and install was pretty simple. Thanks @ProForce!

Another question is can your system supply 50A continious for that 600W unit? They also have 300, 200, and 150W elements that might also be easier to insulate.

i'm running dual battery w/ a group 35 odyssey battery rated for 65AH -- was going to try and go with a higher wattage unit so i could warm quicker -- plan to have a 10-15 gallon tank and don't really want to wait for several hours until it's at temp. there are several videos on youtube of folks using these elements inside of plastic tanks...will have to investigate a bit.

what i'm really interested in is figuring out how to add a thermostat to the turn on/off the heating element based on a desired temp....

That's pretty simple, just power the heater through a relay or solenoid that has the thermostat in the switch/relay activation circuit. The relay/solenoid has to be rated for the heater current and the switch/thermostat needs to be rated for the activation current.

Ok, so TOTAL procrastinator here! Between ordering this kit in the winter, and then a busy work schedule and PCS move mixed in, I never got around to installing this kit. Still in the box from Anthony (ProForce) and everything. I have a Truck Topper on order now, but am going a different route with my build. Is anyone interested in purchasing my kit? Purchase Price, plus shipping.

I’d be interested in a portable kit when you start making them again.

for those of you running mounted tanks in your beds any1 using a water gauge? if so, what kind? i'm planning on putting my water tank in the back of the bed (closest to cab), behind drawers -- im trying to avoid having to climb in the bed (under camper shell) everytime I want to check the water level.
