My 02 reg cab recently had the front end (headlights, grille, and cooling system) rebuilt from hitting a deer. The passenger side headlight bulb is dim while the driver's side is normal and bright. Passenger bulb doesn't go on high beam and is super dim on low beam. I pulled the fuse and the bulb is still on. Any pointers as to what the issue may be?

    I've tried:
    -Cleaning the connectors
    -Swapping fuses around
    -New bulbs

Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance !

Have you swapped bulbs left to right. One of your bulbs may be the wrong kind.

Embrace it, play that song by the Wallflowers on repeat.

If the bulb swap isnt the issue, and I'm guessing that the passenger housing isn't horribly frosted or dirty, then its unfortunately time to break out the multimeter and go on a wire chase.

This is the proper first step to see if it is a bulb issue or a wiring issue.

Remind me, does yours have the modern headlights or the old style where you replace the entire housing?

My wife's 96 was the old style but IDK about the 2002.

Had, as in paid someone to do it? If that's the case bring it back and make them fix it. If you pulled the fuse something is definitely not right.

Update - I sliced into the ground wire a little and held it to the truck's body and the light was still on so it wasn't a ground issue. New bulb was also dim so it couldn't have been the bulb. Relay swap didn't fix it either. Put a new fuse in it and the light got all of its brightness back. No clue why it stayed on with the fuse pulled but oh well. Its fixed for now I guess

Random, but what ever works. You could also put in a headlight relay kit.

The lights are controlled by the grounds. They have power to 1 wire all the time. The headlight switch controls the ground to the lights to turn them one and requires a bulb that is designed for that.
