One handed Apple Car Play/phone charging dock

Had some fun with the 3D printer. Wanted something simple, minimalistic and that I could drop in and remove the iphone with one hand, super-fast. The usual mounts I see coming off the vent with the dangling usb cord you have to plug in each time was just not going to cut it. Losing the 1 cupholder was not a big deal for me as the Tacoma is loaded with them within reach and 90% of time it's just me in the pickup.

Paired with a 90 degree USBA to USBC connector so it comes right out of the connection and straight down to the dock. Phone seems to stay in place on normal drives. Have not tried out in off-road situation yet, may have to mod taller sides when I hit the unknown surfaces.

I do like that 90 degree adaptor, think I'll get one, afraid of bumping into my carplay port with stuff and breaking it
3D printer opens up so much custom mod designs! Is that stand attached to the cup holder insert in any way?

 

Very clean install! And I can certainly see how this would be useful. I love my 67designs tacorail, but can certainly understand not wanting to mess with the wiring all the time.

2 short strips of Gorilla double sided mounting tape...she's not going anywhere. Top plate to the top of the 4 cylinders is good ol' 2 part jb weld.
