One Man Cabin Build Thread

This is cool! The Mrs. and I own a little chunk-o-land in South Park Colorado and have been thinking about doing something like this but off grid, as power is about 11 miles from the property. I've often looked at small saw mills and I think we'd appreciate it a lot more if we do it ourselves. Very intriguing, thanks for the thread!

It's been a while since I've posted here....A decent amount of progress has been made. I just have figure out how to upload pics now that TapaTalk no longer works for this forum...

Got the battens on the front and two side:

 

Bedroom floor installed. I went with hand-scraped laminate.

A little late to the show but I'm in! Man, i'd love to do this! I'll check the thread to see if you already posted but if you hadn't, how much did it cost to build?

 

Doors and windows trimmed.

 

Potbelly woodstove is in route from a buddy back in PA. Kicking around a bunch of different ideas on how to construct the hearth. Thinking about using some "Montana Marble" as the finish layer, as I can get it fairly easy.
Open to ideas.

Those are great little stoves.

 

You could use concrete and do the exposed aggregate method. Tell your local batch plant what you are doing and they should be able to bag you up a mix or bring your own buckets. River rock looks really good in this form and would totally complement your wooden features. This one is dyed in Terra-Cotta it looks like, but you get the idea.
