I spoke with the manufacturer and they said it isn't required for this climate.

Not quite dried in. Have to put ridge cap on still. But it does feel good to be almost there.

    Sorry to threadjack!

Speaking of roofing felt, gettting quotes on a new roof for my house, and some companies are pushing a synthetic material instead of the standard roofing felt.

Is this synthetic stuff good, or should I stick with the roofing felt. Apparently the synthetic stuff is more expensive, not that that means the material is superior.

Feel free to not answer this question as it is a bit personal.

How much do you think the expected total cost for the cabin is around? My plan is to first get and pay off some land. I haven't decided what type of shelter to go with when the time comes. Cabins are pretty dang cool though!

I'm thinking the total cost of materials to be around $7500-$9000.

Keep in mind that I "saved" at least $2000 by milling my own lumber.

Didn't price it but this is what I cut:
    105 - 2"x4"x8'-0"
    105 - 2x6x14'-0"
    55 - 2"x8"x12'-0"
    18 - 2"x8"x16'-0"
    38 - 2"x10"x16'-0"

    120 - 1"x12"x13'-0" Cottonwood
    105 - 5/8"x9"x16'-0" Cedar

I've had a couple different roofers on our shallow sloped shed roof in the past week for quotes. So I understand... the synthetic is supposed to be a better insulator, too.

Our roof has three layers on it, unfortunately... so we'll face a steep price due to the tear-off if we get stuck with having to fix it before we sell our place. Nearly 20K. Anyone want a really cool house two blocks from the beach, that needs "some" work. LOL
