No butt hurt. just giving MUCH better advise so his truck doesnt get in worse shape. and also cost a SHITLOAD less then 400 if he does it himself. Those scratches in his paint are not that bad and Meguiars Ultimate compound and a light polishing pad will remove them NO problem. So best advice is to stop giving bad advice if you dont know what your talking about. Also it would take no more then about 15min if all he was going to do was remove those scratches in the paint. not buff out all the paint

FYI, AutoGeek.net has free shipping and 25% off many things today - until midnight Eastern. Good time to get an order in if you've been needing something.

The clips will break, thats the only way to look at it.
I forgot to mention that.... buy clips first if removing.

Ive done it twice, they will break.

Such a common issue, I'm surprised no one has come up with an easier solution.

3M clear vinyl seems like the best solution at this time. I wouldn't mind scratching that up and then change it out once it got real bad. But the price & installation seems a bit challenging for most owners. If there ever was a group buy for vinyl I would jump on it. Any vendors here able to facilitate that?

How is it butthurt when you gave OP completely wrong information? Taking the truck to a body shop and paying 400 dollars to remove a few scratches on the fender isn't "the only 100% way to remove those". That might be your way, but it's not the only way. Sorry you've only had decent results with your buffer. I've had great results with mine.

A harbor freight DA buffer, pads and some polish can be had for ~100 dollars. It would take about 30 minutes of your time to buff out that rear fender. If you like to go off road (and don't live in the desert) and dont want your truck to be covered with trail pinstriping all the time that's a worthy investment.

And actually yes, most local parts stores will at least carry Megs 105/205 which, coupled with a buffer will remove all minor scratches like OP's.

Only when your opinion is completely wrong lol. If you said "I like doing it the easy way and take it to a body shop" then sure, that's your opinion. I believe you are confused with what fact and opinion means.

I didn't mention it in my first post but I work for an auto transport company that has contracts with 9 different OEM's. The 3M Scratch kit uses the exact same method these OEM's use on the vehicles when drivers find surface scratches before they load the units on their trucks.
