One more insignificant clue that 2012 is a mild redesign

Just found this article, thanks to Google News Alert:
    http://www.examiner.com/cars-in-national/low-scoring-cars-may-improve-nhtsa-crash-tests

Article states that the Tacoma will have revised crash test scores, but that none of the vehicles named will be complete redesigns. Seems to lend credence to the idea that only the front end will change, and possibly the front end crash test rating.

I just bought a 2011, after my 1998 was bought back, so I'm not sure why I'm still obsessing over this, but I am!

My guess is, that even if the model isn't significantly changed they're going to crash-test every model-year. I'm certain that if you took two identical trucks and crash-tested them under the exact same circumstances, they're going to get slightly different results.

I think it only lends credence to the idea that Toyota is going to take the opportunity to re-test the same vehicle in hopes for optimizing their original crash-test score, despite the fact that the vehicle hasn't changed physically from model-year to model-year.

    And I quote:
A newly released document lists 10 vehicles whose 2011-model scores won't apply to 2012, meaning something in their design has changed since NHTSA subjected them to one of its three crash tests.

When have you known Toyota to make mid-cycle changes on pickups in order to garner additional crash test stars? Just sayin'.

Good. Could not stand having bought a 2011 and seeing the 2012 getting a complete redesign. God dammit I'm sure I am not alone on that

There are mixed clues and it's not out yet...but I understand. Thinking about buying a 2012 but don't want the redesign to be 2013 but who knows. If I wait to long it might get discontinue and I'll be screwed.

2 Seperate dealers in MN have confirmed a redesign for 2012. Will be based in the redesigned 2010 4runner. Production in San Antonio begins in December with the first redesigned Taco rolling off the line in late Jan or early Feb. Can't believe this site does not have more info.
Sorry to those of you who bought a 2011.;)

I wouldn't sweat it if you bought a 2011. The first 2 years on a redesign usually suck anyways :)

There is no indication of it being a redesign, just updated headlights, hood and fenders. I'm not counting on any fender, hood or even headlights malfunctions personally.
