i dont think anyone asked, but what laptops do you guys use? are you issued standard DoD toughbooks or do you have some say-so in what to get?

if you have a choice, i HIGHLY, i can not stress how highly i recommend the LENOVO Thinkpad X1 Carbon!

we used all X-series series thinkpads for a good 10+ years now, they they have carbon fiber cases, weigh about 3lbs, thin as a single subject notebook, battery can last all day and you can add additional batteries to them. the HD lcd's are bright and easy to see in the daylight. they have led's in the lid to light up keyboard in the dark also. they have the strongest encryption/security of any laptop on the planet to!

i have dropped one from 10' up on to concrete and all that happened was some scuffs and battery fell out. put battery back, and up and running again.

and LENOVO is the only manu who has a REAL warranty, if it breaks you have a new one or replacement part in 24hrs or less with a prepaid return shipping box. no questions asked for 3 years!

i was always in route to some disaster and the size and weight makes them perfect to mount anywhere.

just curious what you guys use and if you can pick what you want since seems your superiors are way cooler than most on considering suggestion for mods and equipment :)

... and how cool is it that you get to sometimes do what most of us have to plan ahead and make special trips to do, as part of your job!

    cheers,
    disco

Dell XFR. I'm not sure what will be issued in the final roll-out. I was one of the test pilots of the system, primarily responsible for GPS mapping roads and points of interest in my areas.

This sentiment is not lost on me. One of the reasons why we take a pay cut to work for this agency is the tradeoff in what we get to do and where we get to do it. Most days, I can't believe I get paid to do this. Some days, though...I don't get paid enough.

The truck looks great! Sorry for the necro post, but could you maybe post more pictures of the center console?

I'm looking into the universal RAM units for my truck (HAM radio), and I'm curious to see how your installer put it in. I'm interested in the back where it meets the carpet and sides.

    Thanks in advance!

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
That is one bad ass rig. I'd pay for a ridealong in that thing!

Could you share details on that AR mount? Something like that would be handy in my Tacoma when I'm driving the ranches and need to remove 'yotes (the 4-legged ones) from the pastures. Right now it's a pain in the ass to reach behind the seat and I've got nowhere to mount my Skyrack.

Anyone willing to donate their stock TRD Off-Road coilovers and/or rear shocks? The factory Tokiko's have decided their oil would be better suited coating the outside of the shock body instead of dampening the piston movement after only a short time frame off-road.

PM'ing me would be easier than stalking. Maybe less thrill, but you'll find info faster.

I hope some hillbilly politicians don't get all jealous and worked up over your nice set up and demand for a take down. Looking nice!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Our local PD had a Colorado for a couple years, they replaced it with a Silverado not long ago. Guess it was just a nightmare. Would be badass if they replaced them all with Tacomas! They have the one Silverado, a bunch of Impalas, and one Ford Fusion cruiser which is pretty tricked out too.

If i got pulled over for speeding by that truck the conversation would go as follows:

    Officer: License and registration please
Me: Yes, Officer here it is but you will find my TW handle is ChiveOn and I need to see a mod sheet or build thread asap
    Officer: Have you been drinking?
