Some of the things I've heard about the Ridgeline is a 7spd or 9spd auto now. Probably a hybrid version since Honda wants to be the first one out for the midsize truck section. Honda is shooting for 30mpg on the V6. No actual specs on the body yet like if it's still going to be unibody w/front & rear subframe or body on frame the latter I highly doubt they will do. 300hp is the mark I constantly hear Honda is also shooting for.

Whatever they do with the 4runner... do that to the tacoma. For trucks that started out so similar the 4runner is now light years ahead of the tacoma in every way.

Maybe Toyota USA should start with a new piece of paper. I have a 2011 TRD 4X4 double cab and really this is not a truck, it's a four door grocery getter that can't carry four adults and some light bags. My Wifes 2010 4-Runner handles four adults and bags better. Had a 2004 Hilux 4X4 double cab that's a Truck, superior chassis, suspension one tough mid size truck. Looking forward to the New 2016 Hilux.

Well,in my opinion other than your somewhat dubious claim that the Hilux is a massively superior truck and real off roaders should shove our trucks over a cliff due to their inferiority, there is only one problem: Hilux not sold in US or Canada....

Diesel. <-- Really surprised they don't offer these yet except most Americans think of 1970's diesels.

    Rear Discs.

And I have to agree with the mirror heaters.
    I leave for work ~0445.
When the truck is encased in inches of ice and howling wintry windy darkness, I don't want to dawdle.

If Honda can make a 30mpg hybrid at a decent price, and GMC/Chev will have a small diesel that will get 30mpg+ the Tacoma might be in for some trouble. The Tacoma will only get tops 24mpg from the 3.5L they plan on putting in the next gen, as that is what the engine is getting on the Lexus which is a lot lighter.

This talk about the ridgeline frightens me. I really hope the Tacoma comes out on top. If not, the choice is no longer simple... and there is trade off/opportunity cost, where as until now the Tacoma seemed an easy decision.

Hot dipped galvanized frame that is not made out of tin foil. Or just any frame that will last as long as the motor.

Ive been asking this question for an EON !!! The tacoma needs duel variable valve timing in its engine as well as a more sorted out rear suspension, even if they are optional equipment, it certainly needs a rear sway bar and some trac bars available from from the factory... the fj cruiser has stock trac bars, why not the tacoma lol?? :p

Cap, incorrect rims & tires, stereo...
Yeah, it really sucked not really even having the option of options. I wanted an RC 2wd, I didn't know a sliding rear window, so called "daytime running lights", XM & bluetooth were it. I opted out of bluetooth. However, I do have power steering...

My suggestion is to offer better, more modern options on ALL models.

I say it's just good competition and winner of this would be the consumer, let it be the hardcore off roader, mall crawler, or people we use it for work like myself.

Based on my wifes 12 Rav4..

Split center console lid (compartment in the lid also)
    Moon roof
12V power sources in mid/back areas (come on Toyota...it's a freeking wire)
    Split glove box (upper/lower)
NOT the oil filter on the RAV4

I know, more than one thing...I don't follow rules very well.

1997 t4r has super duty axles, 5.13s locked front and rear. 3 link front with 14" kings. Rear 63s.
all 4 auto up and down on the windows like the 14 4runner we have along with a power rear window Sunroof and all come with a 6ft bed. I wish i would have waited and got a 6ft. all come with nav and projector lights gm ford and dodge have it in the trucks why not Tacoma. They are a way better output and don't blind on going traffic

Also acc/usb outlets stay powered on when key is off along with the backup display into the radio not mirror.
