You forgot that your interest rate on a new vehicle tends to be half that of a used vehicle. Plus a 3 year old Tacoma has no bumper to bumper warranty, and even Tacoma's can have problems especially if you find that gem someone got rid of for a reason.

I'm not sure why you're arguing against yourself buying a new vehicle after ranting about going that route lol.

I have drove both a Canyon SLT and a Canyon Z71. My wife is very interested in buying one here in the next year or two once the kinks are worked out. While the trucks have more modern features, I found the performance of each to be around par with the Tacoma. The only major difference, other than knobs and electronic features, is that the GM twins are definitely quieter than a Tacoma. Other than that I was a bit underwhelmed by the GM trucks given the way reviewers have been dropping there panties and presenting the lubricant for both trucks so far.

BTW I also had several pet peeves and comfort issues with the Colorado after short test drives. I won't get into them because this isn't the thread for that.

We are also waiting to see what the 2016 Tacoma brings. Something tells me it'll be comparative to what GM is offering. At the end of the day, I would stick with my easily customizable and truly dependable 2013 Tacoma over trading in for a similar Z71 Colorado that I would be disappointed in.

Ha, no, my point is just to get some of this out there. Maybe someone will see it before buying that new (old) Tacoma, and save themselves the frustration I have endured. Maybe the 2016 will be better--I would be happy to eat my words and jump back on the Tacoma bandwagon. And I can't argue for the reliability of a Colorado/Canyon over a Tacoma (without doing more research)... guess we'll see. Tacoma owns 3/4 of the compact truck market, and they have gotten lazy, in terms of upgrades. Once GM steals some of that away, Toyota will be forced to update to stay competitive.

Well it has 3 years worth of warranty to start. 2 years worth of free maintenance. And new car smell. :) when I get in the 15 my phone connects to the radio and pandora starts playing. To call my wife I push a button on the touch screen. It shows weather traffic, has hands free phone that everyone says sounds just fine on receiving end. No tuna can sound. I don't know maybe they had that in 05.and no one has had opportunity to abuse it. My other truck is a 06 ram 2500 cummins I have had since day one. It's still a beast. But it's loud, rough riding, crappy stereo. Oh but the ram does have power seats a heated mirrors.

I know. That's awesome. I wish they would offer that with the double cab so you could have an SUV / Truck Bed.

That would be killer. My '85 4Runner didn't come with a rear seat, a true Sport Utility Vehicle it was.

We ride dirt bikes, it is great for tossing gear bags back there, seats in the Access Cab are about useless anyway.

I guess rubber flooring was offered for a couple years, optioned as All Weather Flooring. Looks like they dropped it for 2015? (I think)

I know I don't post here much, I've owned 3 4Runner's and I've been waiting for a new Tacoma to finally make the switch to a pickup.

Do we have anyone in the know as far as if Toyota will be changing engines? I hear the 3.5 V6 rumor floating around on here but I just spoke with a Toyota GM who has already seen the truck, and knows the details on it. He said that Toyota re-worked the 4.0, which is fine by me if they can get fuel economy/power up. He also said the truck looks completely new exterior-wise, and pretty badass from his viewpoint. I also believe he confirmed the 6 speed, which isn't surprising to me.

As far as what I'd like to see... heated mirrors, a new interior similar to the Tundra, creature comforts, a sunroof, a real metal bed, and having big enough fender wells to accommodate 33's with a 3 inch lift. So far I like what I see from the teaser pics, and more than likely I'll be finding my way into this truck in the next 2 years.

I'm new here and don't own a Tacoma...yet. My wife and I have owned Toys since the late 70s; every one has been amazing. While I really want to replace my old Corolla with a Tacoma, I need a crew cab that my son can actually fit in.

I loved the Canyon SLT that I test drove, but I still remember what happened to all my in-law's Chevys and Fords when they hit the 4 year mark. Not pretty.

I'd love the 2016 Tacoma to have better legroom, especially in the back of the crew cab. Say what you will about Americans getting fatter, but for Toyoda's sake we are in fact getting TALLER!

    Please?

Yeah there's a lot of things I would like on the new truck, namely little more power with better efficiency. But really the lack of heated mirrors on a 30+k truck really chaps my ass. Living in the northeast and often heading out in the early morning dark and frigid air for ice fishing/skiing etc, it really bugs me that I have to keep looking over my shoulder and popping my head out the window to check my blind spots because my mirrrors are frosted over until the sun comes out.

nope he wants a loaded bmw X5 or a top of the line luxury awd sedan.

I don't see 1/2 of those items being the in the Tacoma anytime soon.
