Look again. The HP numbers from the 4runner and tacoma are almost the same.

Nah, it's just something that seems easy to fix though lol. Kinda on the same difficulty level as engineering a third brake light that doesn't leak lmao.

Really? You could take the worst current engine from any major manufacturer and assuming proper maintenance and no major abuse, I bet well over 95% of those engines make it past 150k.

270 for the 4Runner, 278 for the Tacoma. 278>270. And, again, they're geared differently because they have different applications. The Tacoma can also tow 1500 lbs more than the 4Runner despite the 4Runner having higher torque and "almost the same horsepower."

Your gonna nitpick 8 hp lol. Grasping at straws on that one....

The 4runner also has 10 more foot lbs of tq.

Not really. There's a few high mileage threads on there and some members are approaching (or past) 200k. Given that this engine has only been in the truck since 2016, 200k would be like putting 40k per year on the truck. I drive far more than most and only do about 25k per year.

Well, the T4R IS a fat bastard though. That girth is cutting into the tow rating no doubt..

Read the rest of my comment. And yes, last I checked 278 is indeed more than 270.

A little, but not 1500 lbs worth.

In my test drives, I drove both versions back to back. Both manual. I think the 3.5L is the better engine. I found the 4.0L a little on the anemic side. The 3.5L feels more alive and happier to rev.

lol I think you have the 3rd gen brain fog. Spending 40k for mid size truck has got you thinking its the best thing since sliced bread.
