I was wondering if anyone has looked any further into the one touch up and down for the rear windows on a double cab? I currently have one touch on both front windows, looking to get one touch on the rear as well.

I have done some research on it, and please don’t link the 10-15 year old threads about the 1st gen trying to get it from a 4 runner.

What I have found so far is that the Prius, highlander, and sienna have one touch to front and rear windows and the master driver door switch panel that will fit and screw into the tacoma door piece. We can also get the individual one touch switches for the rear doors. Again either from a Prius/Highlander/sienna or just another passenger front auto switch. Then we get to the window motor and regulator. Regulators appear to be same part numbers for front door with and without one touch. Motors have their own part numbers, BUT, looks like for the Tacoma, the front and rear motors are the same part numbers for non one touch, so I would assume the rear doors would use the same front door motor with one touch as well.

So then it gets down to the wiring.
I think we have switches and motors. I just don’t know about the wiring.
Does anyone have any wiring diagrams for window motors or window switches? I’m curious if it would be plug and play, or if we would need to run additional wires.

I’m up for the challenge just don’t have access to wiring diagrams.

Wont be plug and play and will require window controls with regulator motors from a 2010+ 4runner ltd with a multiplex ecu.

    Simple answer is plain no.

I haven't as I couldn't care less if my rear windows have one touch or not. You must have more time on your hands than most. But good luck on your search.

Actually, only took me 7 seconds to write that post so pretty insignificant as far my time goes.

If everyone had this mentality we would still be on manual roll down windows.

Thank god not everyone is this obtuse. :bananadance:

Someone once looked into this for the 2nd gen... what it comes down to is that the motor has a kill power switch when the window reaches top or bottom for that specific car window, so it doesnt keep running after the window is all the way one direction. If you take the motor from say, a Highlander, it will think the window is all the way up when it isnt. Or down. The motor will keep trying to run and put the window where it thinks max up or down is, and you can burn out the motors.

I get it, innovation and modding is fun but what is the practical reason for wanting to be able to one-touch roll-down the rear windows? I mean it takes what, five seconds to hold the switch down or up? I guess I don't get that the effort in this case is worth the outcome.

Now if we're talking hand crank windows (which I know we aren't), I can see the benefit.

The OP asked a question ("I was wondering if anyone has looked any further into the one touch up and down for the rear windows on a double cab?") and I answered.

It should be obvious, but evidently it's not to you, that there's a HUGE difference between roll down windows and power rear windows where you have to hold a switch for a few seconds.

But for those who feel one-touch rear windows are so important, I wish you luck sourcing and getting them installed without issues.

Exactly my point. Seems some like to work on their trucks more than they like to drive them, and that's fine if that's what floats your boat.

One touch roll down or up windows is simply a further evolution of going from manual to power windows, and has been quite common in many vehicles for a while now.

You are just arbitrarily choosing regular power windows as being good enough and anything more being unnecessary.

Again with that mentality we should have stuck with manual windows since they worked just fine.

I think you are missing the point, this thread is about rear seat one touch, not front which 3rd gens have, at least mine does. Perhaps you should understand the topic prior to posting.

By the way, I wonder why this is the only thread in the entire 3rd-gen forum specifically on rear seat one-touch power windows?

Where did I say I was talking about front seats? Perhaps you should understand posts before you reply to them.

There is no good reason why Toyota didn't add this to the rears other than being lazy as they usually are when it comes to some tech aspects of the truck(power seats for example) so why judge someone trying to add a feature that should have been there in the first place?
