    Gents and perhaps even ladies,

This coming week marks one year of ownership with my first Taco and, I have to say - I love this truck.

It hasn't exactly been an easy year on the vehicle. I've slid sideways on ice into a tree, been rear-ended while stopped in an intersection, up to the rockers in water, and hauling probably more than what the manual recommends. Through that and more, however, this little truck has endured without fail.

When I initially looked to trade in my car after purchasing a home, I wanted something utility-based, reliable, and mid-sized; something that was a jack of all trades for home and hobbies, on and off pavement, both now and in the future.

Is it perfect? Nope. The fuel economy can be poor. The automatic transmission, while improved, leaves some things to be desired. The factory paint, at least in quicksand, is very soft and prone to damage.

There are other nuances, certainly, but it's a vehicle that's true to character. It's not a CUV marketed to be a 4x4, nor is it a full-size packed to the gills with comforts and luxuries. While it does have increased technology usage, it remains relatively simple and straightforward. Ultimately, the Tacoma is not pretending to be something it isn't, and that is what makes me appreciate it so much.
Looking forward to many adventures to come. Cheers!

I concur, our trucks could be better but they could be a hell of a lot worse. My OR had exactly 1 mile on the odometer when I first got in it. Which in about 3 weeks will be 1 year ago. So I'm right there with you OP. I dig these trucks & find them fun to drive. Congrats on the 1yr anniversary & the review, very well said.

Awesome! Happy you love your rig! There are things about it hat drive me crazy but I will say truck is still solid after almost 3 years. Might have to upgrade soon to a tundra when we have kids, but Tacoma will def be my fav little truck of all time!
