wrong. Most of your local police municipalities have a dedicated "fraud" investigator. True the FBI does handle fraud investigations, but so does the Secret Service, ICE, and the Postal Inspection Service. The feds typically have a really high threshold to investigate cases..typically $200k+. I investigate theft & fraud for a living for my company and deal w/ local pd and feds on a daily basis. My last job was working in the fraud department for one of the major credit card issuers and my sole job was to investigate the large fraud and identity theft rings.

From my professional experience dealing with these scumbags on a daily basis ..tell the guy to f*** off in an email. Go open a new bank account. Change all of her passwords, put a "consumer statement" fraud alert on your credit bureau and go on with your life. He sounds like a small timer Dbag to me and not a threat. I wouldn't worry about it.

Caps man, you can still get a point across without them... just sayin. I did a purchase online two days ago with debit... I've been watching my banking info like a hawk, from a secure internet connection, on the hour every hour. Shouldn't have done that....

Another possibility is this guy could've worked out to buy something from this gentleman whom you've e-mailed using your gf's account to pay for it. Then he's thinking that he's getting screwed now that the payment has bounced. It's fairly easy to send e-mails that look like they came from another person's e-mail address. All the fuss between you two covers the scammers' tracks somewhat.

Just a thought...anythings possible with this.

My bad. When it happened to us we were sent through FBI and then IC3 to file complaint.
