I'm wanting to buy a new set of tires, going to keep stock wheels and put the Bilstein 5100s on set at 2.5. Should I buy the tires online or go to a shop and purchase through them? I'm more than likely getting a shop to put the shocks on. I was just wondering what you guys have found to be cheaper.

If you like having a local shop then support them. If you don't care about having a local economy then buy them online...if your local shop are a bunch off dick faces, buy online...if you local shop spends time with you, helping you to make the right choices and saving you money in the long run buy you not having to buy things twice because of there knowledge...then go with you local shop. You are almost always going to spend more locally...you have to decide if it is worth it to have a friendly face to go to when things go wrong. I don't buy my electronics locally, because when there were family owned electronics stores in my area...they were ass holes...and when I went to one of the big box stores...they were just stupid and crappy...so I don't give a shit if there is a local electronics store...and blah blah blah, so on and so forth....

i didn't realize they price matched. i usually shop at treadepot.com just to check prices, also discounttires.com doesn't have the tire selection theat treadepot does.

i'm in the navy and don't have a local guy. i don't trust many mechanics because they do seriously try to rip people off. i'll go in for new tires and end up needing a new brakes and rotors.

If they do not carry the tire you are looking for, call them and they can probably get them for you... My tires and wheels came from them.. I have Moto Metal's, but look online, they do not carry them :spy:

You need to make sure you price the entire deal, from tires to mounting to TPMS and balancing. I find cheaper tire prices all the time, but after figuring out the entire cost, most of the time I get a better overall deal from Discount Tire as I can usually negotiate cheaper mounting/balancing/TPMS pricing, along with a price match on the tires.

This is not an absolute though. I've bought an on-line set of tires then had them mounted/balanced at a local tire shop for cheaper overall too. Just need to run the entire cost of the deal together.

America's tire matched them, and installed them right there, no monkeying around waiting for the tires...

i think my best bet is to visit a discount tire shop and see what they can offer me.
