I'll be getting a new Tacoma, hopefully within the next week.

The reason for this is my 08 Colorado decided that last Tuesday evening was a perfect time to try waterskiing (it wasn't, but I couldn't convince it otherwise). After the ensuing totalization of my ride (wondered what an airbag deployment was like; now I know), OnStar immediately kicked in and contacted emergency services. I had renewed the OnStar subscription only because it was free for one year through my insurance provider.

I hadn't given the service much thought before, but now I appreciate how useful it can be. Both my phone and glasses were nowhere to be found for quite a while. Both were located eventually, but only after about fifteen minutes of repeated searches. Had I been immobilized, I would not have been able to reach them.

So the point of this long-winded first post: is there an OnStar-like system available for an access cab V6 SR5 PreRunner? My dealer said that it is only available for the double cab. I don't want to give up the mirror with the backup camera to add OnStar FMV.

Thanks for the help. Nice place you have here!

I'm pretty sure you can buy OnStar for any vehicle now. I think they sell the kits at BestBuy

Yes, but with that kit, I'd lose the rear-view mirror with the backup camera. I think that's a pretty handy gadget based on using it for the first time.
