Yup. Ericson brand I think. 27,000lbs breaking, no metal, should suffice haha.

There was an outside of the box version of the china-trax at Princess auto, so I got the chance to look them over. However, having never seen MaxTrax in person real up close, I had no basis to compare and contrast. But for the price, and likeliehood I’ll need them, I’m quite pleased.

For recovery boards, is carrying 2 worthwhile? Or should I have splurged on 4?

Two should be fine. I have two and only used them 2/3 times. A buddy can always lend an extra one if needed.

Awesome, just the first-hand experience I was hoping to gather. Better than @Norilsk losing a set in Nebraska? North Dakota? I know he’s not a fan haha

    Yep same strap. :)

Well even though I overpaid for my ChinaTrax :censored:, I figure they will pay for themselves real easy.
If they split, screw them to a piece of good plywood.

1 will cover the majority of situations.
2 will cover 80-90% of situations that traction boards will help in,
4 is best in buried in sand or bogged in slushy snow where all 4 tires are buried.
Those are the types of situations though, where a winch or a snatchstrap may be a better choice.

Things start to go pop when you are really spinning your tires and one side suddenly gets a lot of traction.
Especially on the fronts when one side droops down, you have your wheels turned and that drooped tire grabs hard, bang.... CV makes a ominous crunch pop sound...

    This just came in today...

Seems pretty heavy duty, and it will cover the end of the Synthetic rope,
and block more of the hawse opening to hopefully reduce crap building up in front of the winch.

    Plus it's Black... Lol

I hate that Smittybuilts supplied hook is non-removable from the rope without either cutting or de-braiding...

The OCD Engineer in me wants to spool out the winch through a window into the house and de-braid the hook off as I;m sure the Chinese workers did not braid it far enough, then wrap the braided area with Spectra high test fishing line ...

The Lazy Pragmatist say to just use a cuttoff wheel on the Shittybuilt hook,
Spectra wrap the braided area and slap on the Sidewinder and be done with it. You don't need a hook anyways because D-rings are closed and safer.

Norilsk tends to leave a trail of things in his travels...
With his lead foot, his truck just unravels....
    :sawzall:
    Traction boards,
    mud flaps in fords ,
All the cuts he takes out of his truck to stuff the next size tire in...
Something about virginity lost in the Arborgh trails din...
    Russion toothpaste and duct-tape repair...
But he seems to somehow always get there....
Gotta love our little Slavik boy...

Please tell me we don’t have a ton of snow at home. Been in the desert for 2 weeks and on my way back now...

Might as well just turn it into a rock crawler now that the mint showroom paint is officially cooked.

cant overland if your truck doesnt look like it just rolled off the showroom floor in the middle of the bush

I used the slee mount, and put it up beside the windshield washer fluid rez. The mount has holes and a place for your locker manifold:eek:. I didnt need it yet so I modified it a bit for what I needed.

Yea not much free space up there.

Here is what the entire mount looks like. One of the parts is a power steering rez relocation mount if I remember correctly, was quite some time ago when I installed this.
