Thanks for the info. How long did you have it installed for? Did shifting into reverse get easier over time?

Yes, I do a good bit of city driving. There are times when going from 2nd to 1st where it will go over into reverse, and times when I'm in a rush to go from 3rd to 2nd and it will go over to the revers channel but obviously not into reverse because I'm pulling it in the opposite direction.

It's not like it constantly happens but every once in a while and it annoys me. This past weekend happened to be one of those times. If the solution is a $100 part the is easy to install then why not?

i had the URD SS installed for a couple years and it was ok for me, much better than stock. firmer and a bit shorter. a general tighten-up.

over time it does soften up quite a bit. regarding your Q going into R: it is similar to stock in the beginning, firm going into R and softens similarly over 12-18mos or so like stock does.

i have the Core shifter now, that's not a SS kit but a whole new shifter assembly. this is the real deal for me, super mechanical and clean. it was crazy firm out of the box and has loosened the tension but still just as clean and mechanical. it has actually slowed down my shifting, because where you can go diagonal with the stock or URD from 2 to 3, for example, with the Core i can't do that. rather it's forward, right, forward into 3rd. i like it like this. think bolt action rifle with no diagonal slop.

and with the Core, I've had mine on maybe 8 months or something, going into R does take more than the others and it's less likely you'll do that by accident with the Core.

2awg is no wear close to big enough for that distance at 12V

Understand that when you have voltage drop to length and the winch still needs power it will just increase current.

Just a little fyi for you when Eugene and I were spooling his we ran it off jumper cables and they were burning hot and melting the insulation by the time we were done.
You're asking for an electrical fire cheaping out on cable.

Check with electrical suppliers. All for sow type cable. It's very similar to welding cable and if you get two conductor you've got everything in one cable.

@llamasmurf just to put it into context
At say 12V you pull at 350amp
Dropping to 10V due to line loss will bring you up around 420amp for the same pulling capacity.

It's pretty simple math. If voltage x current will give you your power output. But remember that winch need x amount power.
So if you drop voltage your current is going up. Add voltage and current goes down

Thanks, I'll look into the Core shifter as well. I suspect it will be much more than the $100 URD.

I got quoted $250 at my welding store for 50ft.

2awg isn’t going to cut it. They use 2awg for front winch runs on the front and even then I up’d the size to 1/0. Winches run up to 300amps And you will cook that 2 gauge. Up to you though.

Winch can draw up to 400 amps I believe at full load. You’ll be running atleast 10ft. Keep in mind this chart only goes to 300amps.

Your fine for the front. Just save up to wire it at the rear.

I don't think that's how DC motors work? My understanding was that the current draw is the same for any given load? If the supply voltage drops then the torque goes down or the motor slows down.

Only one thing left to do then

Only drawback aside from cost is top speed limited to about 60 km/h on pavement.
