I've been reading up on it a lot.
    No bueno

Apparently gets lots of issues with bump steer after because it's wider and changes your tie rod lengths in relation to your control arms.

Yes its stronger but from what I've read it's not the nicest to drive and when flexing can fuck with your steering.

Basically at droop or compression will cause your tires to either toe in or out depending on if you're in compression or droop of course.

Without being long travel it's not good

You machine the tundra rack down to the same length as the tacoma rack

the stroke length is diffrent though so you loose a little bit of steering radius with the swap

Be curious if this is with the solo rack. No sure how a fixed cylinder can do all of that.
I am a ways away. More research for me.

I still think that old school steering setup with a hydro assist we talked about before is the way to go. Sleeving the frame would be the worst part of it

I ended up doing mine after. You can just jack it up and slide the spacer on top.

Those farm jacks are so handy and versatile but so fucking dangerous as well.

I would never go under a vehicle held by one of those. Even tire changes would be sketchy

3" lift. $10K in TRD options. Richie's semi-hidden bumper, and soon his Elka suspension
We had a guy blow a valve stem in Bobcaygeon a few years back - only option to jack him up was with a farm jack.

Loosened the nuts with the truck on the ground.
Had 4 guys hold the truck once it was jacked up by the hitch.
Used my cordless impact gun to make the change quickly.
Dropped the truck as soon as the nuts were snug.
Torqued it back up once it was safely on the ground.

Still scary as shit, but effective and quick...

I don't bring jack stands on trail runs, but I usually have a chainsaw. Could cut some logs as jack stands...

Colby valves to replace valve stems are the shit. We changed @Norilsk valve stem in 5 minutes. Took longer to get the air compressor out.

Dose anyone have any good links to how a Tacoma front suspension/steering works.
Question: why would putting spacers on make a 265 70 17 tire rub at full crank when it never did that before.
I'm beginning to think I chose the wrong truck to build...:turtleride:

    wheel spacers or suspension spacers?

comes down to alignment and wheel specs and would happen on pretty much any vehicle. Even a Jeep. Throw spacer on the arch of the front links is smaller moving the axle towards the body. Why most suspensions on jeeps can come with long arm suspensions or they move the axle forward or backwards to help with clearance.

you can fit 37’s-39’s on these trucks if your willing to make room....

Edit: this guys running 39.5 for his winter wheeling setup

Wheel spacers? Pushes the wheel out and causes you to rub the fender. Why you can run skinny 33’s easier then wide 33’s. Applies to 36” tires too. Irok offers a 36x9 and you can fit them with less work than a 35x12.5. Width is the issue in most vehicles depending on their stock setup. Super duty fords and dodges have the wheels tucked in a lot so you can add a bit of width without issues.

    where are you rubbing?
    body mount?

if you moved the wheel further out you will now hit body mount.

this comes up all the time when guys are saying 'can i fit 33s with 3" lift'
although lift does play some role in it, with our trucks and the way the body mount is the width of a tire at times ends up being more of an issue than anything else. Hence fitting 35s to be such a bitch at times.

i think the best thing to learn from this is don't run stupid spacers and just cut that shit outta the way or have your girlfriend beat it out of the way with a hammer.
