Next Sunday July 12th, some friends and I are heading to Georgina paintball for a fun afternoon. Invitation is open to whoever is interested. Place opens at 10 and I think the plan is to be there by 11. Rentals or bring your own gear - $25. Paint $60 for case (2000).

But question on the gastank skid plate you mentioned... PE is a plastic (obviously it can be better than steel at some points) but as you had ordered one , are there videos on them for their strength and how well they hold up? The 8lbs weight is hella nice and the price is a bargin. But i mostly want to learn more about PE tank skids since i only know of steel and alum...

@tacoma16 i see you inquired about the same skids as mentioned above -

Your gas tank skid is a skid you never really hit, just have in case.

I have been wheeling my truck for 4 years with out a gas tank skid with no problem. It is rare you are going to hit your gas tank. It is tucked up under pretty good. This skid is the 'just incase' skid. You are never going to jack the truck up on this skid, or heavily bash the full weight of the truck over and over like the IFS skid is designed for.

So yes its plastic, its not metal. You are hopping to never really need it, its a just in case thing.

Im not opposed to plastic, modern composite plastics are tough as nails
I only inquired about it since idk how tough the plastic skid the TRDORs have and how well the PE will hold up

so the plastic he is using is the high density stuff. They use it in applications like ashphalt trucks where a blade scrapes against it all day.

I was really looking into, but decided against it because of the mounting. Uses a nylon strap which I didn’t think would hold up. Also, it’s flat where others have a bend to protect the side of the tank a bit more.

I have landed on my gas tank and actually lodged a rock under the strap. Usually the gas tank skid is for sliding over stuff and you will rarely land on it. My luck though. So I ended up going steel for price and I can fix it. Plus there isn’t much options out there for dclb. Went with the good old pelfreybilt. Lol. Pros and cons to each. really wanted the durability And lightness of the plastic but with how I drive and how dumb I am I went with steel. Easier for me to modify and what not.

Just ordered mine. 1 left! I'll probably drill holes and bolt it in like WifesTaco did. It's how the FJ version mounts by default.

I'm like you in that if it can be damaged, I'll somehow figure out a way to do it. If you want to R&D a product, give it to me, I will break it or find something wrong with it.
I am looking at steel too. Can't go wrong protecting it with peace of mind knowing if it hits, it's steel.

Love steel for that reason. Especially for armour. For anything else I use aluminum (fridge slides, panels etc)

A rare sighting of a bumper growing naturally in the wild? Given a few more days might it ripen into a full truck?

Is it wrong that I read thin in my inner Marlin Perkins voice? Or is it more wrong that I said that were 85% here won't even understand the reference?

Wait wut? You put protection on your truck that requires you to periodically check to ensure that the protection part of your truck is not inadvertently harming your truck?

Yup, sounds like 2020 to me

    Carry on

Haha, well, I don't know if it happens commonly.
But after driving around on dirt/gravel roads for a few hours I noticed there was a stone wedged up in the side.

Doesn’t appear to have a winch, so wonder if they strapped it on the bar and the leverage ripped it off.

    Thanks for the heads up!

We will find out if it happens commonly, since you, me and Dax will all have it.
