That is going to be an impressive setup when complete. Awesome piece of work you have going on there.

 

Since it's a VW, is the battery under the seat, in the fenderwell, or buried below the trunk floor?

 

Under the hood. It's a 1993. It's been sitting in my parents garage for couple years. I figured I better start it up and drive it a bit before summer is over.

 

A rock on the Ardbeg South Trail decided to make a 3"x1" rectangular cut on my sidewall yesterday:



Interestingly, with all the treadwear, the 265/75-16 GY Duratrac now measures to a similar loaded diameter as the factory 265/70-16 GY Adventure spare tire. The 280-km drive home yesterday in the 3+1 config caused no spurious ABS or Trac activations. I'll run this setup long-term and put a Hankook ATM under the truck as a spare.

 

Glad you guys went on a "stock friendly" trip...
only have to worry about a few scratches and stuff...

That's what happens when you let a crazy no boxed, ziptied Russian lead the way...

Lol that reminds me... I have not checked my spare tire pressure since... ever... oops.

I did the exact same offshoot 3 times before with no damage. Without offshoots, it's Pontiac-friendly:



I keep my spare deflated so it can be dragged over rocks with no damage. Extra downtime to pump it up when I had to use it though.

 

It was interesting to see the competition YJ struggle on the same offshoot you broke down on. You know shit's getting real when the driver wears a helmet in the Jeep!

That chair was comfy AF. I do believe its time we upgraded, and that will be a big upgrade.
