I just got back from VMUTS. I only went to the mine, I don't want to do anything too crazy without a winch (can't get one until I sell my Mustang). I forgot how nice the Mattawa and area are.
I agree with earlier posts that the maps needs to be updated. I entered from Murphys road and started on #11 only to come to a "no truck" sign. But the trails are nice and the shelters and outhouses are a welcome site.
As I was leaving the trail system there was an elderly french couple in a small car trying to find Mattawa. I quickly turned them around.vmuts.jpg mine.jpg

Yea just last weekend they were constructing that new shelter at the mine. It is the most popular spot on VMUTS.

since the Straightpipes released a offroading video with the raptor SVt (unpaved highways so it seems from the video)
but does anyone recognize where they drove?

Secondly; they mention Canadian made rims (released with the video) BlackHorn offroad out of Concord, ON (Vaughn area)
nice looking rim but only sized in 17x9 with a positive 12 offset :boink:

    https://www.blackhornoffroad.com/pr...16871&pr_ref_pid=5413295849639&pr_seq=uniform

The truck already has over fenders that make the truck look like this when it's stock
    ced6b5b4e1842e6c19eb3817c1e0ee07.jpg
i need a hair of poke for it to look normal. i emailed the company to see if they could make a 16x8 with a -12 offset that way i don't need to mess around with spacers

A couple pics of my trip to VMUTS. As I said, I didn't take many so nothing interesting in this one.

This is where I suffered the indignity of being winched out by a jeep.

That is a CB radio, not a GMRS 'walkie-talkie' like what @3JOH22A posted.

Most of us run Walkie talkies (i personally run the Motorolla T402) and we've not had too huge of an issue with them (Ganaraska winter run when we had some troubles when the 1 group split into 2) Costco Ancaster had a bunch for sale for $80
    IMG_20200810_182828.jpg

there are a few guys that have CBs as well, so it's not a huge waste or anything. but i've only seen them used once out of the dozen or so group runs that i've done and it was used as a relay between the 8 guys with walkies, the one guy that didn't have one, and the one guy that had both.

There is a lot to know when it comes to radio's, so do not feel bad.

Easy way I know the difference right off the top, # of channels. CB has 40, GMRS has 22

My crew runs CB although it seems as though most are moving away from that
