That's ham... You'll need a licence. Most guys run Cb. I've heard very good things about the beofeng radios. Can't beat the price either.
Edit: I think I stand corrected. It looks to be Cb. My bad.
Double edit : it is ham

^Interesting. The Baofeng specs show it should be interoperable with the GMRS/FRS two-way radios sold in Best Buy (Motorola Talkabout, etc.).

You seem to have researched more than I have on the product. I'll take your word on it.

    Pulled this from here
    https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-cb-ham-radios-128/combo-cb-gmrs-frs-166948/

    1. Citizen's Band (CB) freq range is 26.965 to 27.405 MHz. at 4 watts. No FCC license required

    2. The Family Radio System (FRS) and the General Mobile Radio System (GMRS) share some freqs and have a few "System" only freqs as follows:
    - Shared at 2 watts: 462.5625 to 462.7125 MHz
    - FRS Only at 0.5 watt: 467.5625 to 467.7125 MHz
    - GMRS Only at 2 watts: 462.5500 to 462.7250 MHz

    3. GMRS requires a FCC license at about $80 or $85 as I remember.

CB. Not many run ham since you need a license. although it is far superior to CB. I'm thinking of getting mine, would be cool if others did too. Just really helps for longer range. I'm mostly thinking to cause in parts of the US and even Canada for that matter use a lot of HAM over CB. CB range is shit in the mountains so most people in BC and Alberta tend to use HAM. You can bounce of repeaters and get some serious range where CB in those environments is pretty much line of site communication thats about it lol.

For what its worth one of the guys from OF4 that has it told me about this place.
    https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/025.nsf/eng/h_00040.html

Said if you can do those test and score a 70%+ repetitively, you're ready to write and should book your exam. Once you get it you're good to go. Not something that expires if I remember right.

GMRS/FRS are license free as long as they are under 2Watt if I remember correctly. Once you go over a certain wattage you need a license, its the same amateur radio license you require for HAM.
Let me know which ones, I was thinking of getting these
    https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B007B5ZR4G...olid=47YO7YCKPT5F&coliid=I2T2ZJM5G99JEQ&psc=1

We had midland ones when I was working at billy bishop airport, got great range out of them. Could hear people in the tunnel, island, and even picked up the crews working at BMO field at the same time since we all work for the same company and have the same radios.

Regardless I'll get the same ones if I get a set so then we'll have 4 that can work together.
I'm also thinkng of getting my HAM license
