Thanks for the info, I did a quote with them and it was way off the mark (+50/month), so I don't think the discounts there would help me much.

I can get an additional discount with my current insurer via employer, but it entails me having to open a new account with a credit union :boom:

when I was talking to economical, I found out that OF4WDs promo code saves 10% off their normal rates. Easy to get the code on OF4WDs website. Might be worth a shot?

I would go through a broker. I went through Marsh Insurance. 29 years old, no accidents, and I pay $149 a month. Used to have a 2015 Rav4 and I paid $181. They say the extra safety features on the Tacoma dropped the monthly rate. But I was told because these trucks hold their value so well insurance charges a premium incase they are written off. Damn foreign vs North American

Why because what? They can try and prove you are some guy on the internet? From random posts on a forum?

    Give me a break.

    You guys are THE paranoid.

Now if you have some twitter account, with your real name, and job posted on it. Then you start posting crazy shit. That is different.

This forum is as far as the internet is concerned, anonymous. Good luck trying to prove I am any individual person based on things posted here. Wont work.

    License plate means nothing.

I can add 400+ pics of your truck to a post. Does not make it mine.

I can go get 400 pics of trucks on instagram, them post them here.

    Does not make them mine.

Except, the context in which this convo started with YOUR insurance company knows who YOU are, knows what truck YOURS is, knows what YOUR license plate is...

But go ahead and believe you leave NO digital fingerprints

So I finally installed this - Cluster, Radio, and Gear indicator. I would say I'm satisfied but still think its overpriced. Like any screen protector, prep is key...these are relatively easy to install when using the wet method (what they recommend). I could care less about the radio screen protector and the shifter screen.

The cluster is obviously what most people are after in the kit and I'd say it does make the difference. It's still very (not perfectly) clear and most definitely does not show any existing scratches which is great. It is also the easiest to install because it is larger than the face of the cluster and slips underneath the black bezel. Hard to fuck it up.

I might sell my extra set, just going to give it a week or two in case something odd happens and I have to replace.

It kind of does since you know it's registered specifically to your vehicle. And assuming this is because you were in an accident it's your vehicle. Your name on the ownership.

Saying you bought it as is means nothing. You're still liable.

I went into this over a 2hr phone call with my broker. You but disclosing said mods and getting in an accident you can be royally fucked. And not for your own injuries but the other parties injuries.

It's you a person who makes what? 80-150k a year against a multi million dollar insurance company.
They have better lawyers. You're in an uphill battle.

If this is just a little accident where cars are written off and limited injuries you'll be getting off lucky. As soon as serious injuries occur you're fucked.

Not only will your insurance be trying to find a way out of paying the injured person will be coming after you as well.

As I was explained. Something as simple as a lift could be looked at and used as an excuse not to pay.
Writing off two cars and paying for them is a joke to insurance. That's under 100k
Compare that to paying for loss wages, surgeries etc. There's a reason we have 2mil liability etc.

You might think you can't be proven as the owner based on the thread and that your 'i bought the vehicle as is' works but it really doesn't.

    1. Bought as is will not work when you have shiny new Elka suspension on there and the truck is 6+years old
    2. That's up to the police and their investigation or the private investigators the insurance company hire to determine if there's enough evidence without a reasonable doubt that is your vehicle being posted etc. After that might be up to a jury.

Oh and all the while for #2 you'll be needing to pay a lawyer to defend you.

By no means am I saying you should have your mods covered as that's up to you if you want to get that money back.
But not disclosing mods that many would be able to tell are new and not bought as is is asking for trouble.

Oh and they could easily subpoena your credit card history etc to show you bought those mods etc. Unless everything has been paid in cash there is always a paper trail somewhere and truthfully this forum is the least of your concerns
