The 1/4 will be fine that’s what I did A few months ago and used quarter inch hose but I had to shave a little bit off the Dorman vent flange. I just called my parts girl at the local Toyota dealership and she had both parts within 48 hours…She is fantastic!

Way cheaper than Amazon ($22) as you will see in my invoice below ….. cool that she would also source the non-Toyota Dorman part for me.

It is very important to remember that the threads will not go in your differential all the way you wouldn’t want to break it off

Interesting… I read in the first generation section https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-differential-breather-extension.15223/ that the threads wouldn’t go all the way in so maybe that’s the difference? Or maybe you have the 5/16 union?

I just snugged mine up and it didn’t want to go anymore.

Edit… I just snapped the photo below of the vent I removed from the differential and you can clearly see that the threads did not go in all the way on this one.

Aparantly a stockoma with 255 32';s will rub the uca when stuffed hard.

My alignment did get effed (waay toed in and 30deg on the steering wheel) but nothing seemed to have slipped on the cams this time

havent checked but clearance as it sits left to right is pretty much the same. The event that caused the rub and misalignment was with the wheels straight though.

really starting to justify belter shocks or at least some durobumps in the near term. the sport shocks do very little to prevent bottom outs once they start going through the suspension travel

so you are running a 255/80/17 255/85/16 I am assuming? Thats a 33" tire (unless its a typo of a 265). @Shveet was running 255's (skinny 33's) on a stock (sagged) out suspension. Don't think he was running into the UCA.

Alignment though is most likely to do with it.

Could it be offset issue? Sport wheels have a higher offset than the off-road wheels

i have 255/85R16s but on a -12mm offset rim so i poke out a little further than him (stock sport offset is +25 or something... so actually i poke out a lot) so his is really in the wheel well.

    edit:
yeah so it's +25 for offroad and +30 for sport.
trd pro rims are between 0 and +10
