Interesting they chose not to compete with the f150 power boosts generator mode. Huge mistake IMO.

look, i don't want to be parked to charge a Millfucky battery for the electric saw.
because driving around would be 100W charge max and that doesn't even provide enough to charge my phone nevermind a powertool battery

Typical Toyota, releasing a long awaited updated model that is already out of date.

I'm one of the few that would use it to its full extent I suppose. I live off grid in my camper for 6-8 weeks, and it'd be nice to not have to carry a generator around when I'm doing those shorter off grid stays. (I wouldn't use it non stop, it would be really nice for the shorter stays/stops. Would be crazy cool at truck stops, just plug the trailer into the truck).

Yep, I currently have a more simple version of the same idea behind the fender, but soon inner fenders or rad support won’t exists :anonymous: #biggerstronger

I use one as well. Good to keep couple of the 9ah ones charged for the chainsaw and other electronics.

It goes deeper than that. Toyota chose decades-old NiMH tech, so it's a large battery that takes up all the space under the rear seats (where the storage cubbies are in the non-hybrid version), yet holds only 1.87 kWh. (Tesla Model 3's battery has 28 to 43 times more capacity depending on trim.) Looks like Toyota designed the hybrid system just for "torque fill" to eliminate turbo lag at low rpms - the electric portion really wasn't intended to power the vehicle.
