Continuing with the weird failures - half-way through my weekend trip in the Subaru, I noticed the passenger side windshield washer nozzle stopped spraying. Closer inspection revealed the nozzle's hose barb had broken off inside the hose. o_O I pinched off the hose with a ziptie until I passed by a Subaru dealer on the way home and picked up two new OEM nozzles P/N 86636FG051 ($40 apiece!) During removal, more pieces of the old nozzle broke off, and I had to fish out plastic chunks inside the hood. The replacement nozzle snapped in easy enough.

So a few days ago, I took my friend (who is the lowered car type) out on some of the trails in bobcaygeon. We are now going to look at an R40 pathfinder for him to build to come to ardbeg with us on the fall run. It is truely infectious.

What's R40? Wikipedia shows the 1st gen as WD21 and 2nd gen as R50. Very difficult to find a 1st gen that isn't rusted to hell. Nissan's corrosion protection was worse than Toyota's. Similar situation with Isuzu Rodeos.

R50* typo. He’s got 7k to spend all in. Also looking at some earlier R51s.

Front main sealed changed out tonight. Going to clean the undercarriage a bit better to make sure nothing else is leaking. Also going to double check the torque on the balancer. May need to make a tool, pry bar was kinda sketchy.

^Alternatively you could've left it alone. Free undercoating and bonus BMW ownership experience (add a quart of oil every 2000 kms). Keep the oil in the cab in a genuine BMW oil pouch for a more authentic experience.
