Here's a story: saw a Joop middle of the road missing a fender. Looked like a tire blowout or a broken wheel or missing lugs or whatever. Back of the Joop, spare wheel, no tire. Not sure if it's a cultural thing or a budget thing but that tow and repair is going to cost more than a 5th tire. Granted, I don't know if it would've helped, but it might've.

Hey pals, new to the forum here and just recently bought my first gen, so a total greenie in all senses. In the short period of time I’ve owned my truck I’ve really turned into a crazy Tacoma weirdo like the rest of you all :help: I am from out Brantford way, and saw another early first gen like mine driving around the other day and got pretty excited.
I see there’s that trail cleanup coming up and I’m wondering if I should join for fun, even though my truck isn’t very beefed up and I don’t know anyone. I’m scared to get bit by the off-roading bug… I’ve been resisting it hard and worried to see too much cool stuff

Do it 100%. That is the time to experience it. If we never see you again, we'll tone it down next year

Did the Jeep happen to have a window sticker like this by any chance?

Hey guys, I have a set of Cooper ST Max 255/85R16 I got off Shveet. I’ve run them and made my choice in new tires.
$100 if anyone wants to try ‘em on for size. there’s like a season of tread left- good for deciding if you want to go with the pizza cutters or not.

Give a shout out to Brantford Nissan on your way past. Quick story or not. Summer of 1984 my father said “let’s go for a drive” somehow we ended up at Brantford Nissan. Dad pointed out five red 720 2wd KC gas trucks sitting in a row. Dad said what do you think of those? I thought to myself number one they’re red number two they’re red and wtf would we do with that? Dad said “pick one” and the rest is history. 10 years and 300k out of the best truck on the Planet.

100% come out to the cleanup

overall, its the best time to check it out if it's your cup of tea especially since there is gonna be a lot of us from the looks of things. so if you somehow can't take the trail, i'll personally guide you off it so you can breathe easier

lol, no. I ended up getting Firestone Destination XT 265/75R16.
I found they were a bit noisier than my Falcon Wildpeaks. Went with a bit less aggressive, since my daily off-roading at the gravel pits doesn’t require too aggressive a tire to handle.

Cool. What in a nutshell is it typically like? As far as the trail goes. Is it relatively challenging? I’m a competent driver but don’t have any true off-roading experience, yet :). Is it dry or usually pretty sticky? And how does it usually work - drive along the trail with everyone and clean up along the way? If there’s a better explanation somewhere to be pointed to I can also just read up on it :) I read the main sticky through already

Edit: Clearly didn’t read well enough the first time - Cleanup is in sections

Your dad’s a G for that. Neat truck. Not totally related but I learned that the Toyota dealership in Brantford was the first yota dealership in all of Canada. I found that pretty cool. I wonder why, and if Nissan was here pretty early on too

I never saw my dad angry or say anything negative towards anything or anyone. I’m very blessed. As for Nissan… Hellz, yes! Edit: I really need to find my crappy poleroids of this thing.

My dad told me to keep my truck stock. There's that wisdom from old age

My dad didn’t. He was pleased as punch when I turned the torsion bars to the lowest setting.

Honestly, its not the trail. no matter what trail is, its not the trail.
its the truck. remember to play within your limits and if you step out of the limits of the truck
don't expect the truck to take you through what ever it is your going through. example: mud hole, big rocks, deep water ect. ect.
    Safety First always...

the one thing to remember is this group has recovered trucks in many different situations, repaired trucks on the trail, and made sure everyone gets home safely. So your in good hands. Were all there to 1. have fun and 2. make memories, oh yea we have to clean up the trails too.

Question. Are rear brake cables dealer only items.
Canadian tire and auto spot says so. I don't believe them. So I'm asking if anyone knows
