These springs come off from the bottom. No spring compressor needed

^With the threaded spring perch back off all the way, typically you'd still need a compressor to clear the lower perch. In any case 700lb is actually a good rate for 3rd gens. That's what I'm running on my Icons.

They got those uniballs at the bottom, what a junk, remmeber thoser crappy Elkas that failed on me and costed close to 1K to have them rebuild? you'll have to replace them often, I'll take them off your hands and dispose responsibly:rofl:

    Good catch!
Now go grab some Dobinsons coils and you still going to be under 1K for the setup. I have spring compressor that I do coils with and may be able to help ;)

$1k rebuild puts me at 1/3 of what they should've cost. And apparently you can just press in bearings. But that sounds like 50k kms from now's problem

(I can never be you, after all)

^FJ grille is gone in the latest mockup:

In typical Toyota fashion, the tires got smaller, and outward visibility is reduced.

^Since there's no need for a raked windshield, be glad it doesn't look like one of the other Toyota concepts

you are brave. I’m assuming those springs are tiny compared to the heavy duty stuff you work on but I was shitting my pants when using the spring compressor to crank my coilovers.

How are we this advanced as a society and spring compressors are still death traps?

no joking I almost got my head taken off by a Amazon chinese spring compressor. take the assembly to a shop and have them handle it. its just not worth it messing with this size of springs. and yes now that i'm a ripe 29 I know better. lol

@Sloweburn had a bad time with one if I recall.

@Norilsk spring compressor was pretty good. Did a few sets of coils and seems pretty heavy duty. Depending how often I have to do it I may just invest in a decent one.
