I used to be like that.

that ship has long sailed. My girlfriend hates it.
i dunno if you've ever looked at my build thread to realize how much is going on with my truck.

    sadly :(
    it changes.

hell I had 20k in the engine alone of my jetta.
turbo, intercooler, cams, injectors, fuel pump, air intake, tuning....shit just adds up fast.
Saving is key. I didn't put any of the parts for my trucko n credit. Everything has always be paid for. If I cant afford it I save until I can.

    I like it. Good explanation.
But what about for my sake of IBS where I had to run down from the 9th floor to the ground to take a shit today and almost shit my pants?

Oh btw if you're on site come say hi I'm hiding in the north east electrical room on 9th floor.

    I'm past that :(

Just looked at it, sweet truck man I’m envious. My girlfriend hates my truck. I spend too much time on it but it makes me happy, she just doesn’t like when it breaks and I get stressed out. It’s all part of the fun though.
I’ve never owed the bank money aside from a couple hundred on the credit card which I pay off every term. I’ve never been in debt. I paid off my tax debt as soon as I saw it.

That's the way to do it.
I'm at the company yard this week and then flying to the Dominican next week. I'm back the 23rd but who knows where they are sending me.

When I was there last, I hated having to climb stairs from 14th to 22nd looking for shit. I hate high-rise.

I’ve watched that before, super helpful. I’m just lazy and don’t want to make sliders out of round tube if I don’t have a way to produce good looking bends. I’d prefer to just use a straight piece of square tube right under the rockers to keep it low pro/clean.

Same issue when I wanted to make my own tube bumper. Can’t do it because I don’t have a bender and throwing a mitre on the tube just isn’t the look I want

how long have you been with her?

I think the biggest issue my girlfriend has is she thought when I got the truck I'd stop with the modding shit as she dealt with it with my jetta. All the other shit was before her. She thought after I got the truck I'd leave the tuner world and just leave my truck stock hahahaha.

I think Josh rebuilding his samuari had something to do with him and his girlfriend recently splitting but dunno.

Making sure to not have debt as little as possible (some stuff is unavoidable like mortgage etc) and keeping a buffer is best.
Similar to you I'm in trades (electrician) I know I can be laid off at any moment. Because of that I always have at least 3 months of bills and some buffer cash saved away.

I remember when I was starting and an apprentice as well its hard. But meh just dont go beyond what you can afford.
I made that mistake in the past never again.
If only I'd learn all the money I spend on cars I could've had a house long ago.
    20k there
    15k there
    18k here etc etc

I will say however off roading has been easier on the bank account than racing was...

Right angles are easiest to do with a hole saw, with the tube clamped in a vise on a drill press.

For odd angles, make a paper tube and cut with scissors until it mates with the other tube. Slip the paper tube over the steel tube to transfer the pattern over. Then use either an angle grinder or bench grinder.

I'm starting to consider a repair account

Technically have the money around I could touch but I'm thinking a designated account with x amount

Will have been with her a year this Saturday. I don’t think it’s as bad as I feel about it sometimes. We’re commited and she’s happy I just feel bad because I’m always fucking around with the truck. Gets her stressed out. My excuse is that I’m making it better so we can go on adventures, which I do want to do (bought her a canoe for Christmas so we can do Algonquin interior).

Yah it’s hard to save cause of the seasonal work with landscaping and then going on EI in the winter. That’s why I want to persue forestry after I’m done my apprenticeship, have a solid year round job where I can be in the field or the office. The Horticulture applies to it so it helps. Not much but a little.

    Algonquin is beautiful.

Really need to get back up there for paddling.
Hey if you end up coming to ardbeg ever and she comes bring the canoe if you dont want to wheel.
the lakes we camp on up there are beautiful I'm going to definitely be going at least once or twice this year for no wheeling at all just paddling.

My canoe is pricy so I'm not ready to strap it to the top then drive down the trails getting it beat by trees. I'll get into the camp and just camp and paddle.

although I'm considering getting a cheaper used kayak just for bringing wheeling

Shoulda bought a house first, those mods aren’t worth anything in 5 years except happiness which i fully support. But i could sell my house and buy a new tacoma with the appreciation of the housing market in the last 2 years.

But my truck is nothing like yours, truck mod budget is slim. When i had no house, my jeep got all the money for a year and had it paid for

bruhhh I should've bought a house years ago instead of fucking with other cars lol.

You guys think my taco is bad? My jetta and GTI were way worse.
The Supra only wasn't bad cause I made the money back in the sale.

Jetta? All loss. GTI? loss but not major at least.
20k in the jettas engine alone man.
and consider that was more back in like 2012/2013 :(

I actually have a downpayment saved just dont feel like moving lol.
cant afford in the city and I do not like the idea of a 1.5h minimum commute.
