Actually I know what would be perfect, I just need to see if there's some laying around. It's this rubber mat they sometimes lay down on trailer floors to prevent loads from shifting.

 

If this is the splash guard templates. I found that rubber roles for gym floors can be had at Home Depot. It’s thin like a yoga mat but heavy duty rubber. Used them when I remade my own from stock. Went well and held up. For the life of me I can’t find a link but they are there.
I have a bit leftover. Easy to work with it too
