i think I'd rather go late summer /early fall

 

I'm always down for a run. Hoping to set one up for July if another group hasn't. See how she goes.

 

Set it up. I'm down for a Friday Saturday Sunday.

 

I'll see what I can do. I'm hoping to have my tents and awnings then so I can do some shake down runs before my trip in August. May need to tweet some stuff before the road trip

 

Yeah....I still need to install a steering rack, steering pump and intermediate shaft....Always something. Did you finish all your electrical?

 

Jesus that stuff went eh. That sucks. Heard the steering racks a bit of a pain.

I haven't had time to finish the install. Just have to run some wire under the truck and wire some switches. Need a day or two to make it neat. Plus I have my front brakes to do. Waiting on parts as of now.

 

Steering rack had a leak so I figured fuck it. Steering pump was always dirty so I cleaned it and realized it also had a leak, so fuck it as well. And the intermediate shaft is to replace the stupid ass u joint that's rusty as hell and has like a meter of play in it. As I was driving it got really annoying that I would have to move the steering wheel like an 1 1/4" before it actually caught.
What brakes did you go with? When I did mine I did the ebc slotted rotors and some green stuff pads. They work well.

 

Dang. I have been lucky with my steering components considering the weight and tires.

I had ebc slotted and green pads. Toasted them after 40k km. Think it was the Cabot trail in Nova Scotia. Brakes got a tad warm on some of those hills. Could smell them....going with ebc again. Just their stock replacements as they were cheaper and I'm apparently going to be eating brakes.

 

When you guys talk about going to Ardbeg, are you sticking to the hydro line trail? I'm fairly new to the "Tacomaworld" but I've been going to Ardbeg for about 5 years now and managed to do the black lake loop in my stock 2017 tacoma in November. It's an awesome trail, I can't wait to do it again this year now that I have a lift and tires.

 

Yes or any other part of it that are tacos can handle.

I'll go wherever I fit, and some places I don't... I'm new to off roading but am willing to travel and try. I do know the limits of not having armor so I pick my trails carefully. Would love to meet as many experienced drivers as possible out there. Hopefully @tacoma16 gets his shit together and finally posts on the main page....

 

Lol I'm trying...work and life in general have been crazy this past month. Let me know what day works for you guys. Any suggestions?

 

The black lake loop starts on the first left if you go right at the beach. It took us 5.5 hours to finish the whole loop. We were going slow and being careful though. The trail is really fun, but it's a pretty tough trail for a stock vehicle (I used my skids a lot).

 

I'd love to get out to Ardbeg sometime this summer. I'm good to go just about any weekend this summer except for the long weekends. That being said though, I don't mind taking an extra day off work if I need too.

 

That's the trail I went into. Only an hour in though.

I'm thinking of going in on a Thursday to get a good camp spot. I'm pretty much available any weekend with enough notice.

 

Pick a weekend guys. I'm pretty much free the entire month of July.

Anybody know somewhere fairly priced for skid plates? I priced out at rci and with conversion it come to $1100
