If you measure the distance of the exposed shock shaft compared to the distance to the bump stop. You want to hit bump before the shock bottoms out. If you flex it out it should be easier to see.

Remeber with the 3-4" of lift your also getting the down travel. So although your getting the extra lift for stance (maybe one or two inches, your also going to be getting the down travel

Sorry to hear man. Good luck with the sale.

We usually camp at black lake. I'll try and post a map with the available camp sites. Usually black lake is good, but I'm down for whatever.

I don't want to be the only one not enjoying Thyces world famous BBQ'd meat. Count me and my son in at $10 bucks a pop.

    Looking forward to the weekend!

I'm having a piece of shit day. Installed my shocks last night just to realize their too long. Installed my Spacer so I can keep my height when I install my skids. Was rushing the whole time packed up all my shit to make it for 3pm. Left my driveway, heard a noise pulled over and realized in my rush I forgot to reinstall the sway bar link...tore the outer cv boot. Reinstalled my sway bar link on the side of the road in the sun. Called the alignment place to tell them. I'm going to be late, just to be told that my appointment was at 2pm, and the machine is acting up so I can't come by till Thursday. Now I have to replace cv boot, paint the skids and install the sumo springs in the back and hope I don't damage the shocks.... When it rains it pours.

Okay so what trails do people want to run this weekend? Here is some info on the trails. This is the first time I am running the trail with the actual names and a map, and really any idea of where I am going...Usually follow the other guys. So I can't really speak to any of these because I may or may not have run them. For the new guys heres the info.
    Ardbeg north trail
    Trail Description
Trail starts in Ardbeg and is 1+ rated trail to Black lake. At lake you turn right (go north) and after 0.5 km or so turns into a 3/3+ trail. Water depth can be up around 30". Basically moderately rough trail. No particular steep hills. Can be run by capable stock vehicles (e.g. Jeep Cherokee, TJ, Land Rover Discovery etc.) Trail ends at North ends at the rail line where you will need to turn around.
    Cautions
Bolger Lake Cottage association has been attempting to close the area for many years, use caution when in area, respect the trail and be polite when and if confronted.
    Trail Highlights
Many lakes and rock formations at every turn. OF4WD clubs and members performed a clean up in 2011, trail is in excellent condition and very little if any garbage can be seen.
    User Groups
    ATV, Dirt Bikes, Hikers, Snowmobiles
    Terrain Type
Mix of Terrain, Rock, Short Water Crossing, Slightly Off Camber (15 deg), Water 6
    Truck Requirements
Front Tow Points, Min 31 Tires, Rear Tow Points

    South Trail
    Average Completion Time
    3 hours
    Trail Description
Trail starts just west of Ardbeg which is an old rail way town. Leading west into Black Lake riders can choose from heading north, North Ardbeg, trail or head south eventually ending up at hwy 124. This trail has something for everyone as it tracks along the hydro line right of way. Lots of rock and some low lying areas where the mud can get a little thick. Rock lines the sides of the trail allowing for you to critique your crawling skills. Camping along the trail is common especially at Black Lake.
    Cautions
Bolger Lake Cottagers Association has had issues in the past with large vehicles damaging the access road and trail to the lake. These cottages and families have been in the area for many years and are concerned with off-road use causing damage to the road and lakes in the area. Be courteous to other users and people on the trail.
    Trail Highlights
Camping, Swimming, lots of Rock. OF4WD clubs and members performed a major clean up of the area in 2011, support the Ardbeg local store and restaurant as they were a huge help.
    User Groups

    Terrain Type
Mix of Terrain, Mud, Open Trail, Rock, Short Water Crossing, Steep Rock
    Truck Requirements
Front Tow Points, Mild Suspension Lift 2inches, Min 31 Tires, Rear Tow Points

    Black Lake Trail
    Average Completion Time
    2.5 hours
    Trail Description
Starting at the north side of Black Lake, this trail Loops around and hooks back up with the south trail. Nice mix of rocky terrain and tight technical off chamber sections. Mostly rock bottom water holes with lots of tree cover over some awesome Canadian Shield scenery. Something completely different than the Hydro-Line Trails.

My vote would be to run the Black Lake trail on Saturday and the South Trail on Sunday as that one will take you out onto Hwy 124 closer to 400/Parry Sound.

I said fuck it and bought a whole new cv shaft. Just finished install. Everyone chimed in and agreed that these shocks are too long for my setup. I'm talking to a fabricator tomorrow to see if I can get custom mounts made before the trip. If I can't I'm going back to the 5100's for the trip. I'm making it out there in my fucking mountain bike if I have to.

I did black lake loop last fall. It took us 5.5 hours and that was when my truck was stock with just 31's. If anyone wants to do it, I would highly recommend that you have skids. My factory ones worked fine. It's the best/most technical trail I've ever done, I'd love to do it again.

Yea, not sure if I am going to be able to do the Black Lake Trail. I will probably be able to run the North Trail from the description of it, but I am only there for the Saturday so no big deal :D

I am down for any trail, whatever gets us stuck and have some fun, I got the minimum requirements :) plus it's a good way to test my skid plates and front tow bar.

I'd say if anyone wants to progress there offroading skills, Black Lake Trail is the one to do. It's do-able with a stock truck as long as you don't mind using your skids. Plus it sounds like we'll have plenty of spotters and recovery gear if we need it. I'm down for any trail. I can't wait to get out there.
