My son was in an accident yesterday morning on his way to work. Girl pulled out in front of him as he is doing about 45 mph. She didn't fair too well, she is ok, but her car not so much. My son is fine, but he thinks the 2007 4 Runner may be totaled. I don't think so... the air bags did not deploy. He is waiting to hear from the Ins Company.

    Her car:

The important thing is they are alright and my grandaughter was not in the car at the time... With the resale value on the 4Runner's being what it is he may make out overall. He got a good deal on it when he bought it a few years ago. fingers crossed. Just a huge pain in the ass for him. He has under-insured and un-insured motorist coverage on his policy and she has USAA Coverage. He should be OK and it wasn't his fault, she was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way. Hell he even got a day off from work.

1-2 days from now the soreness may just hit. Tell him to get treatment ASAP if it does, but good to here there are no major injuries.

I’d be surprised if that wasn’t totaled.

No air bags deployed here? Wtf?
Oh, and glad no one needed them, no one injured. Modern vehicles saves lives.

He knows the drill. He is an EMT Crew Chief... I told him he should get checked out regardless. He is hard headed like his mother.

    Sorry to hear that Jimmy.
    Good that everyone is ok.

I have USAA, nothing but good experiences with them.
I personally can’t speak for “at fault” accidents.
If they are as good to your son as they are me, he should have no problems, and be compensated fairly.

Unfortunately, I tend to agree with the others.
I don’t think the 4Runner is going to make it.

She was hit in the rear passenger door and his was a corner impact on the passenger side. Airbags don't always need to deploy.

Sometimes it is more dangerous if they do. All calculated by algorithms.

He is already planning his next 4Runner search. He just reworked the differential, brakes and installed a new stereo.

I like how the 4Runner took the impact. The passenger compartment appears intact. I had a similar accident 15 years ago in my Jag. It was toast :(
