Hey all, so I had my truck in 4wd for icy woods roads. I wasn't even thinking about it as I left and drove about 5 miles home including some of that at highway speeds (70mph). I never heard any clunks or anything to indicate that something broke. I was wondering what the potential for damage is and what it would be to. Is there anything that I can or should do to check? Thank you for any advice (other than to remember to turn off my 4wd, I got that one).

I am willing to bet nothing happened and you will be fine. You can rest assured you are not the first person to do this.

I've done it before with the exact same scenario. Nothing broke or got damaged on mine. You should be fine

The manual recommends monthly 4X4 usage just keep everything lubricated. It can't always be on a 4X4 trail. As long as you don't attempt long distance driving at high speeds you're fine.

Nope I know I need to. I just look stuff up from time to time. I know from looking it up some time ago the max for 4wd is 55, but I don't know whether it shuts off at 55 or if it just keeps going. I assume that is what you are referring to?

There is no max speed for 4HI , just a max speed to shift from 2WD to 4HI

You are fine, my wife did it once when I was too intoxicated to drive back home. The 90 degree left turn is when I knew it was in 4wd. That was over a year ago.

she took it out to the garden. beats me, she knows how to shift it into 4x4 high. I assume she tried to shift up in neutral to disengage but instead went into 4x4 low.
